Russo-Ukrainian War: Prediction and explanation of Twitter suspension
<p>The dataset utilized in the research paper: "Russo-Ukrainian War: Prediction and explanation of Twitter suspension" accepted to ASONAM 2023 conference. The provided dataset contains multiple extracted feature categories based on the Twitter dataset collected during the Russo Ukrainian War. The dataset dose not contain any private user information since user and tweet IDs are removed.</p>
Stable isotope content (carbon, nitrogen) for epibenthic suspension feeders and Macrocyctis pyrifera at in the Santa Barbara Channel, 2010-2011
This dataset includes measurments of stable carbon, nitrogen isotopes in tissues of eight epibenthic suspension feeders and Macrocystis pyrifera (giant kelp) at three reefs in the Santa Barbara Channel during 2010 and 2011, as part of a study to (a) determine the contributions of phytoplankton and giant kelp detritus to the pool of suspended reef particulate organic matter (POM), and usage by benthic susupension feeders and (b) whether POM composition varies with distance from kelp forests. Species sampled include Chaceia ovoidea (bivalve), Aglaophenia spp (ostrich plume hydrozoan), Cucumaria piperata (echinoderm), Muricea californica (cnidarian), Phragmatopoma californica (tube worm), Parapholas californica (bivalve), Pachythyone rubra (echinoderm), and Styela montereyensis (tunicate). Samples were collected at three core SBC LTER research reefs: Arroyo Quemado, Arroyo Burro, and Mohawk. Potentially important food sources to benthic suspension-feeders on shallow subtidal reefs include phytoplankton-dominated seston, kelp-derived detritus, and for locations adjacent to sources of freshwater runoff, terrestrially-derived material. Our data will be input to mixing models to estimate the contribution of each source to the reef food web.

Oscillatory compression with different frequencies of 2D, dense, soft particle suspensions
<p>This repository contains 5 datasets of cyclically compressed hydrogel packings inside microfluidic channels, with different oscillation frequencies, observed using a microscope. This repository contains the raw data (images) as well as analyzed data of the particles tracked over time. The data format closely resembles information you might obtain from 2D DEM simulations, and could, therefore, be used to calibrate DEM simulations of the compaction of soft particles.</p> <p>The "Readme.md" file contains more in-depth information about the experimental setup, experiments and data structure.</p>

<p>This dataset contains the numerical simulation data describing the migration behaviour of particles. Detailed study on the infiltration and resuspension of particle in a cavity flow is presented in a journal paper entitled "Infiltration and resuspension of dilute particle suspensions in micro cavity flow ". Effect of sediment suspensions on seawater conductivity measurements
<p>Data are in small files recorded in April 2015 and March 2016 during experiments made in Shom's metrology laboratory. A 2 liter cylindrical container, immersed in a calibration bath, was filed with seawaters of practical salinities 35 or 38, and stabilized in temperature at 10 °C to better than 1 mK. 10 °C was choosen to avoid seawater evaporation during measurements. Measurements were made with a calibrated CTD recorder SBE 37 placed in the cylindrical container and a reference temperature probe SBE 35 placed in the calibration bath. Sand or sediments were added progressively in the container and mixed with a stirring propeller. After each increase in sand concentration, a file was recorded. Measurements were made at concentrations: 0, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, 700, 900, 1100, 2000, 3000 and 5000 mg/l.<br> The sand comes from Plouneour-Trez beach in Brittany, France, 48° 39′ North, 4° 19′ West. The sediments come from muds taken in the Abers Benoit (Treglonou) and Le Faou bays (France) located respectively at 48° 33′ North, 4° 32′ West and 48° 17′ 36″ North, 4° 10′ 39″ West.</p>

Data from: The effect of external flow on 3D orientation of a microscopic sessile suspension feeder, Vorticella convallaria
<p><em>Vorticella convallaria</em> are microscopic sessile suspension feeders that live attached to substrates in aquatic environments. They feed using a self‐generated current and help maintain the health of aquatic ecosystems and wastewater treatment facilities by consuming bacteria and detritus. Their environmental impact is mediated by their feeding rate. In ambient flow, feeding rates are highly dependent on an individual's orientation relative to the substrate and the flow. Here, we investigate how this orientation is impacted by flow speed. Furthermore, we examined whether individuals actively avoid orientations unfavorable for feeding. We exposed individuals to unidirectional laminar flow at shear rates of 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 s<sup>−1</sup>, and recorded their 3D orientation using a custom biplanar microscope. We determined that <em>V. convallaria</em> orientation became progressively tilted downstream as the shear rate increased, but individuals were still able to actively reorient. Additionally, at higher shear rates, individuals spent a larger fraction of their time in orientations with reduced feeding rates. Our shear rates correspond to freestream flows on the scale of mm s<sup>−1</sup> to cm s<sup>−1</sup> in natural environments.</p>
