Valley of the Kings Tombs – Luxor, Egypt
The Valley of the Kings is a valley west of modern Luxor (ancient Thebes) in Egypt where, for nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. This valley held the burial for some of the most well-known pharaohs in history, including Thutmose III, Ramesses II (The Great), and Tutankhamun. -Nate Loper Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
Example Tomb - King's Chapel
After the completion of the second King's Chapel in 1754, work began on the crypt - burial space - beneath the church. Completed in 1760, the crypt contains 21 vaulted tombs, one is modled above, and aprx. 150 individuals. Each tomb holds between 5-15 individuals, and were once accessible via wooden doors and steps within each one. Sealed in 1854, the tombs can only be accesed via a guided tour through the King's Chapel Historic Program. The model above depicts thier simplified architecture, steps, and rough W x H.
