<p>The outbreak of COVID -19 forced most universities into distance education. Three didacticians and researchers from the University of Maribor, Slovenia: Kosta Dolenc, Mateja Ploj Virtič and Andrej &Scaron;orgo formed a self-initiated initiative project group during the COVID -19 epidemic and started the first project with the working title: The Side Effects of Forced Online Distance Education (FODE).</p> <p>The aim of the second study, conducted during the first wave of the epidemic in March 2020, was to investigate the response of university students to the new situation. Database of the assessment of two instructional design variables in verbal reasoning and mathematical reasoning courses from the perspective of a Peruvian pre-university center students

<p>These are the data obtained from 4 evaluations made to a sample of 630 students of a Peruvian pre-university center. First, two study variables were evaluated: teaching sequence compliance and the student&#39;s educational need according to the perspective of 315 students of the verbal reasoning course. Second, the same study variables were assessed in the remaining 315 students of the mathematical reasoning course. This information is being used in research to obtain an academic degree and later to make a publication of a scientific article.</p> <p>For the treatment of these data, inferential statistics was used through the software R version 3.4.4 (2018) The R Foundation for Statistical Computing.</p>

Data from: The MRi-Share database: Brain imaging in a cross-sectional cohort of 1,870 university students

<p>We report on MRi-Share, a multi-modal brain MRI database acquired in a unique sample of 1,870 young healthy adults, aged 18 to 35 years, while undergoing university-level education. MRi-Share contains structural (T1 and FLAIR), diffusion (multispectral), susceptibility weighted (SWI), and resting-state functional imaging modalities. Here, we described the contents of these different neuroimaging datasets and the processing pipelines used to derive brain phenotypes, as well as how quality control was assessed. In addition, we present preliminary results on associations of some of these brain image-derived phenotypes at the whole brain level with both age and sex, in the subsample of 1,722 individuals aged less than 26 years. We demonstrate that the post-adolescence period is characterized by changes in both structural and microstructural brain phenotypes. Grey matter cortical thickness, surface area and volume were found to decrease with age, while white matter volume shows increase. Diffusivity, either radial or axial, was found to robustly decrease with age whereas fractional anisotropy only slightly increased. As for the neurite orientation dispersion and densities, both were found to increase with age. The isotropic volume fraction also showed a slight increase with age. These preliminary findings emphasize the complexity of changes in brain structure and function occurring in this critical period at the interface of late maturation and early aging.</p>

<p>The purpose of this study is to examine the new Acropolis Museum and its potential visits, with a focus on the number of students at the University of Athens visiting it. The dimensions studied are the new museum&rsquo;s functionality, accessibility, and the intention to and motives for visiting it. The new museum has been open for 14 years and is viewed as a symbol of an exceptional cultural experience by both Greek and foreign visitors. As the focus of our field study, the students replied to mainly quantitative questions via computer, and we then performed a statistical analysis of their replies.</p>

Compilation of data collected in surveys on the WissKI-based 3D Repository with DFG 3D-Viewer project partners and architecture students from the Warsaw University of Technology and the Technical University of Łódź

<p>The dataset contain the compiliation of responses from users of WissKI-based 3D Repository (https://3d-repository.hs-mainz.de/)., which is the open platform for deposit of 3D models of cultural heritage. The beta version of the WissKI 3D Repository, initiated in June 2022, has been subjected to evaluation by two primary target groups since its launch. The initial group, composed of students in the cultural heritage domain, was tasked with showcasing the importance of documenting and publishing 3D models of digital reconstructions. The survey with sutdents was conducted for three different classes:&nbsp;</p> <p>1) In summer 2022 with bachelor architectrue students at Warsaw University of Technology during seminar of choice regarding digital reconstruction of wooden synagogues;</p> <p>2) In summer 2023 with bachelor architectrue students at Warsaw University of Technology, and master students from Technology University of Ł&oacute;dź during seminar of choice regarding digital reconstruction of wooden synagogues;</p> <p>3) In autumn 2023 during international workshop about digital 3D heritage of CoVHer project with studnets of architecture from Warsaw Univeristy of Technology, Alma Mater Studiorum &ndash; Universita di Bologna, Facolt&agrave; di Architettura di Porto and Hochschule Mainz - University of Applied Sciences, as well as archaeology studnets from Universitat Aut&ograve;noma de Barcelona.</p> <p>The second group, comprising digital 3D cultural heritage professionals, predominantly focused on archiving digital assets. Participants were project partners of DFG 3D Viewer project, which were professionals from the Institute of Archaeology at University Cologne, the Institute of Art History at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit&auml;t Munich, the Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning Department of BTU Cottbus Senftenberg, and the Detushce Museum. They were asked for evaluaton of system after three differetn stages of work: at the begging wihtout any introduction to the system, after proivision of intorudctionary materilas and finally at the end of work.</p> <p>All participants were requested to report their experiences across four categories: metadata form, 3D viewer, provided guidelines, and overall experience. A 5-point rating scale was employed to assess specific issues, with 1 being the most negative and 5 being the most positive. The form length question was an exception, where a median value of 3 was considered ideal, and extreme values indicated either excessive length or brevity.</p>

Data from: Variations in regional white matter volumetry and microstructure during the post-adolescence period: a cross-sectional study of a cohort of 1,713 university students

<p>Human brain white matter undergoes a protracted maturation that continues well into adulthood. Recent advances in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) methods allow detailed characterisations of the microstructural architecture of white matter, and they are increasingly utilised to study white matter changes during development and ageing. However, relatively little is known about the late maturational changes in the microstructural architecture of white matter during post-adolescence. Here we report on regional changes in white matter volume and microstructure in young adults undergoing university-level education. As part of the MRi-Share multi-modal brain MRI database, multi-shell, high angular resolution DWI data were acquired in a unique sample of 1,713 university students aged 18 to 26. We assessed the age and sex dependence of diffusion metrics derived from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) in the white matter regions as defined itein the John Hopkins University (JHU) white matter labels atlas. We demonstrate that while regional white matter volume is relatively stable over the age range of our sample, the white matter microstructural properties show clear age-related variations. Globally, it is characterised by a robust increase in neurite density index (NDI), and to a lesser extent, orientation dispersion index (ODI). These changes are accompanied by a decrease in diffusivity. In contrast, there is minimal age-related variation in fractional anisotropy. There are regional variations in these microstructural changes: some tracts, most notably cingulum bundles, show a strong age-related increase in NDI coupled with decreases in radial and mean diffusivity, while others, mainly cortico-spinal projection tracts, primarily show an ODI increase and axial diffusivity decrease. These age-related variations are not different between males and females, but males show higher NDI and ODI and lower diffusivity than females across many tracts. These findings emphasize the complexity of changes in white matter structure occurring in this critical period of late maturation in early adulthood.</p>

Health-related quality of life and musculoskeletal pain in health sciences university students

<p><strong>Purpose:&nbsp;</strong>To analyse the health-related quality of life and associated variables in health science university students. Secondly, to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain and central sensitisation, and the differences by gender.</p> <p><strong>Methods:&nbsp;</strong>Cross-sectional study among health sciences university students, using anonymous, self-administered questionnaires (SF-12, Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ), Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NRS), Central Sensitisation Inventory (SCI)).</p> <p><strong>Results:&nbsp;</strong>Three hundred and thirty eight students were included (76.3% female; age 22.5&plusmn;4.9 years). The mean SF-12 Physical Component Summary was higher than the mean of 50 in the Spanish adult population as a whole for both female and male students (54.6 vs. 55.9; p=0.02), whereas the mean SF-12 Mental Component Summary was lower than the population mean (36.7 vs. 42.8; p&lt;0.001). These differences persisted when compared with age- and sex-matched population standardized scores.</p> <p>A high prevalence of musculoskeletal pain was observed, particularly in the back area. Pain was generalised, chronic, of moderate intensity, and more frequent in women.</p> <p>Variables associated with worse physical health were being female (B=-1.5; p=0.035), having a disability (B=-4.6; p&lt;0.001), chronic musculoskeletal pain at any site (B=-2.1; p=0.001), and a score &ge;40 on the SCI (B=-3.2: p&lt;0.001). The only variable associated with poorer mental health was the SCI score.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:&nbsp;</strong>Health sciences university students report a significant deterioration in mental health and a high prevalence of musculoskeletal pain, with symptoms of central sensitisation associated with poorer physical and mental health. Women have worse mental health and a higher prevalence, intensity and chronification of musculoskeletal pain.</p>

Questionnaire and Data of Neck Pain and Distance learning among university Students During COVID-19

<p>&nbsp;The shift to online learning during COVID-19 led to increased musculoskeletal discomforts and impacted students' quality of life. Neck pain, once a minor issue, has become more prevalent due to prolonged electronic device use in new learning methods. This study aims to measure the prevalence of neck pain among University of Sharjah (UOS) students during the COVID-19 online learning period and to investigate the factors that provoked it.</p><p>&nbsp;This cross-sectional study used an online survey distributed to UOS students via social media from February 16 to March 12, 2021. Demographic data, Neck Disability Index (NDI) assessments, and pain management information were gathered and analyzed using SPSS 24 through univariate and bivariate methods.</p><p>The prevalence of neck pain during COVID-19, among 325 UOS students was found to be 62.7%, 64.41% of which had neck pain at the time of doing the survey. The mean NDI percentage point was 19.19%. The most common location of pain was the back of the neck 38.77%). Participants reported prolonged sitting (81.23%) while leaning forward as the most prevalent cause of their neck pain. Bivariate analysis showed that the most significant factors affecting the NDI were lifting, personal care, headaches, concentration, sleeping, recreational activities, reading, anxiousness, depression, and work. Moreover, subjects who did not seek medical attention treatment had significantly higher NDI scores as compared to those who did (83.89 vs 125.80, p=0.002).</p><p>By determining the prevalence of neck pain among UOS students, this research can attract attention to the importance of postural changes and time spent in e-learning on neck pain, and the gaps of previously published articles can be filled. Future studies about neck pain and additional preventative measures should be catalyzed in the UAE.</p>

SCoRe - Student Crowd Research. A german dataset of university students' written reflections on their participation in collaborative research-based learning focused on sustainability topics and using videos as a research tool.

<p>Schriftliche Reflexionen von 57 Studierenden als Pr&uuml;fungsleistung im Rahmen des forschenden Lernens mit Video zu Nachhaltigkeitsthemen. Die Reflexionen wurden durch vorgegebene Fragen angeleitet. Die hier vorliegenden Texte sind, von den Studierenden selbst niedergeschriebene, Transkripte von Sprechtexten eines Self-Video-Casts. Es handelt sich dabei um eine benotete Pr&uuml;fungsleistung einer universit&auml;ts&uuml;bergreifenden Wahlpflicht-Lehrveranstaltung mit 1-3 Credit-Points.</p> <p>A dataset containing written reflections of 57 university students from several German universities and fields of study on their participation in collaborative research-based learning focused on sustainability topics and using videos as a research tool. These reflections were guided by given questions. The texts presented here are transcripts of spoken texts of self-video-casts, written down by the students themselves. The texts were graded as part of an inter-university elective course worth 1-3 credit points.</p>

Data from: How does sustainable water consumption in the shower relate to different dimensions of perceived well-being? Empirical evidence from university students

<p>Water scarcity is already a worrying issue and it is predicted to get worse in the future. This creates an imperative to use water efficiently and sustainably. In the domestic sphere, one of the main uses of water is showering, not only for hygiene reasons but also as a wellness activity. In order to gain insight into the implications of sustainable shower use, in this paper we analyse the relationship between subjective well-being and water consumption in the shower. We aim to answer the following questions: 1) How does shower water consumption relate to subjective well-being, 2) Does this relationship differ depending on showering habits (time spent in the shower, and number of showers per week), and 3) Does this relationship differ depending on the season (winter and summer). The dataset contains information on 937 students from different disciplines at the University of Granada, Spain. The different interpretations of subjective well-being considered are life satisfaction, affect, and vitality. Results suggest that there is a negative relationship between water consumption and subjective well-being, in line with the literature that identifies a well-being dividend from green behaviour (being pro-environmental helps the environment and increases happiness). All subjective well-being dimensions are negatively related to time spent in the shower, regardless of the season. In contrast, the frequency of showering is not significantly related to well-being. Therefore, it appears that higher water consumption does not translate into higher perceived well-being, indicating that there is no conflict between efficient shower water use and individual well-being.</p>

Elevated perceived stress in university students due to COVID-19 pandemic: Potential contributing factors in a propensity-score matched sample

<p><strong>Open Data and Open Materials of: </strong></p> <p><strong>Elevated perceived stress in university students due to COVID-19 pandemic: Potential contributing factors in a propensity-score matched sample.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong><em>Scandinavian Journal Of Psychology</em>.</strong></p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><strong>Objective</strong>: Onset of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID)-pandemic has increased students&rsquo; perceived burdens. The current study aimed to examine COVID-related changes and to identify potential factors that contribute to students&rsquo; stress.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: Adopting a cross-sectional cohort-study design, we examined perceived stress, depressive and anxiety symptoms with a specific focus on the role of study-related variables such as perceived study-related demands, study-related resources, academic procrastination, and stress enhancing beliefs. Two cohorts (<em>N</em><sub>pre-COVID</sub>=2175;<em>N</em><sub>COVID</sub>=959) were recruited at the same university and matched with regard to their propensity score (age, gender, semester).</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: Compared to the pre-COVID cohort, university students in the COVID-cohort reported more perceived stress, more depressive and anxiety symptoms, more academic procrastination due to fear of failure, more stress-enhancing beliefs, more distress due to the housing situation, and more perceived study-related challenges (Cohen&rsquo;s <em>d</em>=.15&ndash;.45). A stepwise regression analysis identified depressive symptoms, procrastination due to fear of failure, general self-efficacy, increased study demands, perceived difficulties with to self-organised learning, distress due to housing, and stress enhancing beliefs as predictors of perceived stress in the COVID-cohort.</p> <p><strong>Discussion</strong>: Findings suggest that the switch to online-only education increased the study-related burden for students, primarily due to exams being replaced by a greater amount of regular coursework and imposing demands on self-organised learning. Possibly, stress enhancing beliefs and procrastination due to fear of failure might have been elevated due to less opportunity for social referencing and lack of felt social support by peer students.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Experienced increased burden in students during the COVID pandemic was mostly accounted for by the lack of perceived individual resources rather than by the increase in objective study-related demands.</p>
