Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Weekly Snow and Frost Measurements, 1955 - present
Snow and frost measurements have been collected approximately weekly during the winter season at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest using transects underneath the forest canopy adjacent to the established network of standard rain gages from 1956 to the present. Maximum snow depth, snow water content, frost occurrence, and frost depth data are recorded at points along a transect known as a snow course, which includes 10 points spaced at 2-m intervals within a designated 0.25 ha area. Data from one course are averaged for each collection date. These data were gathered at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in Woodstock, NH, which is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station.
PsPM-REW2: SCR, ECG, respiration, and eyetracking measurements in a Pavlovian appetitive conditioning task with juice delivery with acquisition and recall test after one week
<p>This dataset contains skin conductance responses (SCR), electrocardyogram (ECG), respiration, pupil size (PSR), and gaze coordinates measurements for 34 healthy unmedicated participants (20 females and 14 males aged 24.9 +/- 4.1) participating in a Pavlovian differential cued rewarding conditioning experiment with 2 sessions. <br>CSs were isoluminant colored triangles presented on the screen center with grey background.<br>US was a sip of the favourite juice selected individually. SOA between the CS onset and US was 5.5 s. Participants underwent the conditioning task with CSs (CS+ 50% reinforced) and US delivery in session 1 with 2 blocks, and were tested in a retention/extinction task one week later in session 2 with 2 blocks. No US was delivered during session 2. The ITI was jittered on each trial uniformly at random between 9 to 16 s. The blocks in each session were recorded on the same day with self-paced breaks.</p>

Marcell Experimental Forest weekly soil temperature, 1989 - ongoing
This data publication contains soil temperature measured at eight depths weekly (1989 - ongoing) at the Marcell Experimental Forest (MEF) in Balsam Township, Itasca County, Minnesota. The data came from five peatland / upland forest watersheds instrumented for long-term hydrological and biogeochemical research. The Marcell Experimental Forest in Itasca County, Minnesota is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station, and was formally established in 1962 to study the ecology and hydrology of peatlands.
Systems Ecology Lab Bajada Site: Weekly phenology observations of shrub and grass species at a bajada site at Jornada Basin LTER from 2010-2019
This dataset contains field-observed plot level phenology data for three perennial shrubs and one perennial grass at a bajada site at the Jornada Basin LTER site from 2010 to present. Shrubs include creosote (Larrea tridentata), honey mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa), and tarbush (Fluorensia). The grass is bush muhly grass (Muhlenbergia porteri). The protocols and phenophase categories were developed by the US National Phenology Network (US-NPN) to detect the different life-cycles of the plant, from leaf development (breaking leaf buds, young unfolded leaves, percentage of leaves in canopy), to flower development (flower buds, open flowers, full flowering), and presence of fruit (ripe fruits, fruits from past growing season). Field data sheets were modified from the US-NPN to record the presence or absence of each phenophase recorded at each observation period for each tagged plant. This dataset is complete.
Cascade Project at North Temperate Lakes LTER: Weekly dissolved methane profiles (2018, 2019, and 2024)
Weekly profiles of dissolved methane concentrations, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and light were measured during three summers (2018, 2019, and 2024) in two north temperate lakes. One of the lakes was experimentally enriched with nitrogen and phosphorus during two summers (2019 and 2024), and darkened using a blue dye in one summer (2024). The other lake was an unmanipulated reference. Using this series of whole-lake enrichment and shading experiments across three years with varying ice phenology, we assessed how eutrophication and ice cover affect within-year methane storage.
Plant Atlas 2020 — British and Irish species weekly apparency (including by-latitude breakdown for Britain), 2000–2019
<p>Plant Atlas 2020 is the most comprehensive survey of plants (flowering plants, ferns and charophytes) ever undertaken in Britain and Ireland. It is based on over 30 million records, collected mainly by volunteer recorders of the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) between 2000 and 2019, as well as previous nationwide surveys undertaken in the 1950s and 1990s. This resource contains the species weekly “apparency” metrics presented within the Plant Atlas book and website, including a breakdown of species apparency by latitude for Britain. Apparency at the scale presented here (2 x 2 km spatially, smoothed over the period 2000–2019) combines aspects of recorder activity and detectability, with the latter being primarily influenced by phenology at this spatio-temporal scale.</p>
Weekly CoMix contact matrices for UKHSA COVID-19 dashboard and ONS COVID-19 infection survey age-groups
<p>Weekly contact matrices calculated from data collected as part of the UK arm of the CoMix survey. All contact matrices were calculated over two survey rounds (SR) of data to account for alternating panels (the indicated SR and the previous SR). Full details of composition can be found in Munday et. al. [1]. Contact matrices are provided for age-groups consistent with publicly available case data from the UKHSA COVID-19 dashboard <strong> (0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+) </strong>and publicly available aggregates of infection and antibody prevalence from the ONS COVID-19 infection survey <strong>(2-10, 11-15, 16-24, 25-34, 35-49, 49-69 and 70+)</strong>. The data is provided in qs files as 1000 bootstrapped samples of each contact matrix for weekly 'survey rounds' between 19 and 94 (see directory "survey_round_dates.csv"). The files that begin with UKHSA contain the contact matrices for the age stratification of the UKHSA COVID-19 dashboard case data. Eight Mile Lake Research Watershed, Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR): Weekly thaw depth data, 2009-2024
The Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR) project addresses the following questions: 1) Does ecosystem warming cause a net release of C from the ecosystem to the atmosphere?, 2) Does the decomposition of old C, that comprises the bulk of the soil C pool, influence ecosystem C loss?, and 3) How do winter and summer warming alone, and in combination, affect ecosystem C exchange? We are answering these questions using a combination of field and laboratory experiments to measure ecosystem carbon balance and radiocarbon isotope ratios at a warming experiment located in an upland tundra field site near Healy, Alaska in the foothills of the Alaska Range. This data set includes weekly thaw depth measurements collected from winter warming, summer warming, and control treatment plots at CiPEHR. Additional measurements from on-plot gas flux wells, water table monitoring wells, and off-plot locations are also reported. Note that the experimental warming portion of this experiment concluded in 2022. These data are a continuation of measurements taken at previously warmed plots but plots were not actively manipulated after 2022.

This drying and warming experiment addresses the following questions: 1) Does ecosystem drying, warming and permafrost thaw cause a net release or uptake of C from the ecosystem to the atmosphere?, 2) Does the decomposition of old C that comprises the bulk of the soil C pool influence ecosystem C loss? 3) How do drying and warming affect plant communities and ecosystem properties? We are answering these questions using a combined warming and drying experiment (DryPEHR), which is situated with the Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR) project and located in an upland tundra field site near Healy, Alaska in the foothills of the Alaska Range. Warming treatment here refers to growing season air temperature warming (~1C) using open top chambers (OTC) combined with soil 'warming' using snow fences during the snow covered months. Drying is achieved using an automated pumping system that lowers the water table in the dry plots. Soil warming began in 2008; OTCs and drying in 2011. This data set includes weekly ground thaw measurements.

Long-term monitoring of bird presence is performed on Konza Prairie. The purpose was to determine bird species phenology of occurrence on entire Konza Prairie. Data on the presence, including documented nesting, of all bird species is recorded weekly in five-year periods e.g. 1980-1984, 1985-1989, 1990-1994.
ANA01 Weekly, seasonal and annual measurement of precipitation volume and chemistry collected as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program at Konza Prairie
Data set contains results of chemical analysis of wetfall samples collected on Konza Prairie. Analysis is done by the Central Analytical Lab (CAL), Champaign, IL as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP). NADP data products available on the NADP/NTN web site (nadp.slh.wisc.edu/data/NTN/) include: Annual Data Summaries, Semiannual Data Reports, Annual and Seasonal Averages, Monthly Averages, and Weekly data. Konza Prairie LTER archives and provides the weekly data in electronic form before May 2019.
Bisley daily rainfall (Bisley weekly environmental data)
Data set includes all available daily, weekly, and monthly rainfall from several climate stations in the northeast section of the Luquillo Experimental Forest. These stations are surround the Bisley Experimental watersheds and the Sabana Field Station are are operated by the USFS and the USGS. Weekly canopy throughfall is also collected weekly from the Bisley experimental watersheds. Chlorophyll determined by extraction of samples taken approximately weekly from seawater intake starting at Palmer Station by station personnel including during winter-over period, 1991-2024.
Chlorophyll a (Chl a) is the principal photosynthetic pigment of phytoplankton, and is used as a proxy measurement for estimating phytoplankton biomass in water samples. Chl a concentrations reflect the distribution of active phytoplankton spatially and with depth in the water column and their changes over time. Chlorophyll a is determined weekly year-round at the laboratory seawater intake (SWI), from a depth of 6 meters. Concentrations are typically very low (< 1 µg Chl a per liter) in winter (April-October), and higher (1-30 µg/L) following the initiation of the annual spring-summer phytoplankton bloom in November - January.
PIE LTER time series of nutrient grab samples from Ipswich River and Parker River watershed catchments, Masachusetts, with frequency ranging from weekly to monthly between 2001 and 2019.
Time series of nutrient grab samples collected by hand (i.e. not with the Sigma autosampler) with frequency ranging from weekly to monthly between 2001 and 2016. Sites include three headwater catchments of contrasting land use (forest, urban, wetland), and the mouth of the two main watersheds draining to the Plum Island Estuary (Ipswich and Parker R.). An additional time series was collected for a site in the Upper Ipswich at North Reading and at Fish Br. in Boxford – this sampling was ended in 2002. All Samples were analysed for NO3, NO2, NH4, PO4, TDN and DOC. Si was analyzed until 2002. Particulates, anions and TSS have been analyzed since 2006.
High-resolution, Decadal to Weekly Geomorphic Change Analysis of the Elbow River in Calgary, using Multi-temporal Lidar and Repeat Terrestrial Laser Scanning
<p>This directory contains files related to the scientific research project of Luc van Dijk at the Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment, University of Calgary. The project title is "High-resolution, Decadal to Weekly Geomorphic Change Analysis of the Elbow River in Calgary, using Multi-temporal Lidar and Repeat Terrestrial Laser Scanning". This project in the field of geomorphology was a collaboration between the University of Calgary and Utrecht University in the Netherlands. The project was completed on October 27, 2023. Below is a description of the files in this directory.</p><p> </p><p><strong>DisplacementVolumeDistributions_TLS.xlsx</strong></p><p>Excel file containing tabular data of the normalized sediment displacement volumes that were obtained using TLS. Each tab in the Excel file represents a period of interest in 2023. The data in this file were used to generate the 'histogram-like' figures in the report.</p><p> </p><p><strong>DoD_rasters.zip</strong></p><p>Folder containing the aerial lidar DEMs of Difference (DoDs) for each period of interest. The DoDs are 'waterless', i.e. the water surface is masked. The suffix of the file name before the file extension (e.g., ..._10cm.tif) indicates the maximum REM value that was used for the automated masking of the water surface extent (see report section 3.1.2). If the file name contains "large", it refers to the upstream greater area (see report section 3.1.3).</p><p>Within this folder is another folder called 'Clipped2AOIs'. This folder contains the same DoDs, but covering only the extents of the sites of interest ('AOIs' = Areas Of Interest).</p><p> </p><p><strong>FilteredPointClouds_TLS.zip</strong></p><p>Folder containing the processed and filtered point clouds that were acquired throughout the summer of 2023 using TLS. These point clouds have been pre-processed and filtered to remove vegetation (see report section 3.2). They are grouped in sub-folders per acquisition date. The filenames are numbered to location, i.e. 'elbow1', 'elbow2', 'elbow3' and 'elbow4'. These correspond to the sites of interest: Glenmore Dam, golf club, Sandy Beach and Riverdale, respectively.</p><p> </p><p><strong>PythonScripts_Discharge_Rainfall.zip</strong></p><p>Folder containing the Python scripts that were made to process the discharge and rainfall data that were sourced from Environment Canada and The City of Calgary (see report section 3.3). The 'chart' scripts load the data from the pickle files, analyze them and produce the 'histogram-like' figures in the report. The scripts themselves contain descriptions of their purpose.</p><p> </p><p><strong>RainfallDischargeData.xlsx</strong></p><p>Excel file containing the discharge and rainfall data from Environment Canada and The City of Calgary. The data came from different sources in different formats and were combined into this single table.</p><p> </p><p><strong>RasterizedDifferencedPointClouds_M3C2.zip</strong></p><p>Folder containing the rasterized results of the differenced TLS point clouds (M3C2 output) (see report section 3.2.4). The numeric sequence in the file name indicates the start and end date of the change analysis in a 'mm-dd' format. The suffixes '_dist', '_unc' and '_sig' refer to the three output layers of the M3C2 algorithm: distance, uncertainty and significance of change. The main files of interest are the '.tif' files. Files sharing the same name, but with different extensions (.tfw, .tif.aux.xml, .tif.xml) are supplementary/auxiliary files for the '.tif' file, generated by ArcGIS Pro.</p><p> </p><p><strong>ScarpsOfInterest_shapefile.zip</strong></p><p>Folder containing a polygon shapefile describing the extents and locations of the sites of interest. The main file of interest is the '.shp' file. The other files with the same name, but different extensions (.cpg, .dbf, .prj, .sbn, .sbx, .shp.xml, .shx) are supplementary/auxiliary files for the '.shp' file, generated by ArcGIS Pro.</p>
Weekly county-level pollution data for China from Zhang, Carleton, Lin, and Zhou (accepted, Nature Sustainability), "Estimating the role of air quality improvements in the decline of suicide rates in China"
<p>This dataset contains weekly, county-level air pollution data for 2,839 counties from 2013 to early 2018. These data are used and described in Zhang, Carleton, Lin, and Zhou (accepted, <em>Nature Sustainability</em>), "Estimating the role of air quality improvements in the decline of suicide rates in China". When the paper is published a link to the manuscript will be added here. </p> <p>The manuscript Methods section details data construction. In summary, these county-level observations are obtained from monitoring stations maintained by the China National Environmental Monitoring Center (CNEMC), which is affiliated with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China. CNEMC began publishing hourly air pollution data in 2013, including the Air Quality Index, PM2.5, PM10, ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide. We average hourly data to the station-day level and use inverse-distance weighting with a radius of 200km to convert data from station to the county level. We average across days to generate county-level weekly values. Any missing station-hour observations in the raw data are omitted in this spatial and temporal aggregation. Our main analysis relies on PM2.5, but all pollutants are released here.</p>
Spontaneous motor tempo over the course of a week: The role of the time of the day, chronotype, and arousal
<p>The spontaneous motor tempo (SMT) or internal tempo describes the natural pace of predictive and emergent movements such as walking or hand clapping. One of the main research interests in the study of the spontaneous motor tempo relates to factors affecting its pace. Previous studies suggest an influence of the circadian rhythm (i.e., 24-h cycle of the biological clock), physiological arousal changes, and potentially also musical experience. This study aimed at investigating these effects in participants‘ everyday life by measuring their SMT four times a day over seven consecutive days, using an experience sampling method. The pace of the SMT was assessed with a finger-tapping paradigm in a selfdeveloped web application. Measured as the inter-tap interval, the overall mean SMT was 650 ms (SD = 253 ms). Using multi-level modelling (MLM), results show that the pace of the SMT sped up over the course of the day, and that this effect depended on the participants’ chronotype, since participants tending towards morning type were faster in the morning compared to participants tending towards evening type. During the day, the pace of the SMT of morning types stayed relatively constant, whereas it became faster for evening-type participants. Furthermore, higher arousal in participants led to a faster pace of the SMT. Musical sophistication did not influence the SMT. These results indicate that the circadian rhythm influences the internal tempo, since the pace of SMT is not only dependent on the time of the day, but also on the individual entrainment to the 24-h cycle (chronotype).</p>
