Age-depth model ensembles for SISAL v3 speleothem records
<p>Depth-age model ensembles created for the SISAL database v3 (version for publication), in supplement to <strong><a href="https://essd.copernicus.org/preprints/essd-2023-364/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kaushal et al., 2024</a></strong> and building on <a href="https://www.earth-syst-sci-data-discuss.net/essd-2020-39/">Comas-Bru, Rehfeld, Roesch et al., 2020</a>.</p> <p>This upload includes ensemble data for 5 methods (interpolation, linear regression, copRa, Bchron and Bacon) created following the protocol in previous versions but for newly included entities in the database.</p> <p>Each file contains a matrix with the first column giving the row number, the second the SISAL v3 sample ID, the third the depth in the speleothem (in mm), and the fourth to 2003rd column contains the 2000 age model ensemble members.</p>

Absolute time markers and age-depth model for the last 75 kyr of Lake Chala sediments
<p>The 171 time markers include 162 <sup>14</sup>C ages on bulk organic matter or grass charcoal in sediment intervals of the composite Challacea (CH03, CH05) sequence (Blaauw et al., 2011), transferred to the DeepCHALLA (DCH) composite sequence using mm- or cm-scale cross-correlation of visual lithostratigraphy (Baxter et al., 2023). The other nine time markers are six <sup>210</sup>Pb-dated intervals from gravity core CH99-1G transferred to the CH05 and DCH sequences using 1-cm resolution magnetic-susceptibility profiles (Blaauw et al., 2011), the November 2016 (DCH) and March 2005 (CH05) sediment-water interfaces, and the YTT cryptotephra (Baxter et al., 2023). Lab codes stand for the Poznan Radiocarbon Laboratory (Poz-), the Chrono Centre at Queen’s University in Belfast (UBA-), the Isotope Physics Laboratory at the University of Groningen (GrA-), the Saint-Croix Watershed Research Station of the Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM), and the Cambridge Tephra Laboratory (CT-). ‘Offset’ refers to the old-carbon age offset of bulk organic <sup>14</sup>C dates, modelled using 16 paired dates on bulk organic matter and grass charcoal and three sections allowing <sup>14</sup>C wiggle-match dating using closely spaced bulk organic samples (Blaauw et al., 2011). The compound error on corrected <sup>14</sup>C ages was calculated as SQRT ((Age Error)^2 + (Offset STD)^2). All dated intervals are represented by their DCH event-free depth in meter (mefd). </p>
"Shifts in Phytoplankton Composition and Stepwise Climate Change during the Middle Miocene" - Age-depth models and calcareous nannofossil census data
<p>This is a data supplement to the paper "Shifts in Phytoplankton Composition and Stepwise Climate Change during the Middle Miocene" (Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology).</p> <p><strong>Data Set S1</strong>. Age-depth models.</p> <p>This data set includes the file SI_Tables S2-S5_Henderiks_etal.xlsx containing raw age-depth tie point compilations for each site and sample age estimates, as well as the final, site-specific input files and output (age assignments) from the <em>Undatable </em>Matlab software Version 1.1 (Lougheed and Obrochta, 2019; https://doi.org/10.1029/2018PA003457). The age-depth models presented in this study can be reproduced by running the age-depth model input files in the <em>Undatable</em> graphical user interface (GUI), whereby the necessary settings for the specific number of Monte Carlo iterations, xfactor and bootstrapping are contained in the header of the input files. Note that input and output files are grouped in two zipped folders: a cm- and meter-depth scale version (the latter decreases computing time and produced the age-depth plots shown in Figures S1 and S2 of the paper).</p> <p><strong>Data Set S2</strong>. Calcareous nannofossil census data.</p> <p>The file SI_ds02_Henderiks_etal.xlsx consists of two separate data sheets:<br> 1. Middle Miocene nannofossil abundance estimates (N/g) and genus-level census counts (%, ±95% CI) at 5 different Atlantic deep-sea sites (Sites 982, 608, 925, 926 and 1264).<br> 2. Middle Miocene census counts (%, ±95% CI) of <em>Coccolithus</em> and <em>Reticulofenestra</em> morphospecies and size categories for Sites 982, 608, 925 and 926.</p>
