Dataset SeBluCo study: SARS-CoV-2-antibodies among German blood donors 2020 – 2022, a repetitive cross-sectional study
<p>The dataset is the result of a repetitive cross-sectional study in 28 regions in Germany on SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in residual samples of blood donors from April 2020 to April 2021, September 2021 and April/May 2022. These data were used to aide in monitoring the pandemic in Germany. Data were completely anonymised at the site of sample collection. Serological test results are accompanied by demographic data including sex, age and area of residence (assigned a level two Nomenclature des Unités Territoriales Statistiques (NUTS2)). </p><p>The file contains data (sheet "data") as well as the description of variable content and coding (sheet "variables").</p>
High frequency of X4/DM-tropic viruses in PBMC samples from HIV-1 recently infected blood donors by massively parallel sequencing: the REDS II Study
<p>Here is a sub-library of the <em>env</em> V3 massively parallel sequencing proviral data generated (by Illumina MiSeq platform) during the early phase of HIV-1 infection in a group of first-time blood donors. Only paired-end reads that encompass the complete V3 region from each dataset were extracted, uploaded and considered for the analysis to avoid artificial generation of <em>in silico</em> chimeras through assembly and to evade inflating the diversity estimates of the V3 region</p>
Ultra-deep sequencing of HIV-1 near full-length and partial proviral genomes reveals high genetic diversity among Brazilian blood donors
<p>Here, we aimed to gain a comprehensive picture of the HIV-1 diversity in the northeast and southeast part of Brazil. To this end, a high-throughput sequencing-by-synthesis protocol and instrument were used to characterize the near full length (NFLG) and partial HIV-1 proviral genome in 259 HIV-1 infected blood donors at four major blood centers in Brazil: Pro-Sangue foundation (São Paulo state (SP), n 51), Hemominas foundation (Minas Gerais state (MG), n 41), Hemope foundation (Recife state (PE), n 96) and Hemorio blood bank (Rio de Janeiro (RJ), n 70).</p>
Massively parallel sequencing data of the HIV-1 pol region generated from the plasma of therapy-naïve chronically infected Brazilian blood donors
<p>The submitted massively parallel sequencing (MPS) data were partial data from the pol region of HIV-1 plasma viruses. Samples were obtained from 18 therapy-naive HIV-1 Brazilian blood donors with longstanding infection. Illumina ultra-deep sequencing technology (MiSeq platform) was used to generate the sequences. </p>
Data from: SARS-CoV-2 antibody dynamics in blood donors and COVID-19 epidemiology in eight Brazilian state capitals
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>The COVID-19 situation in Brazil is complex due to large differences in the shape and size of regional epidemics. Here we tested monthly blood donation samples for IgG antibodies from March 2020 to March 2021 in eight of Brazil's most populous cities. The inferred attack rate of SARS-CoV-2 adjusted for seroreversion in December 2020, before the Gamma VOC was dominant, ranged from 19.3% (95% CrI 17.5% - 21.2%) in Curitiba to 75.0% (95% CrI 70.8% - 80.3%) in Manaus. Seroprevalence was consistently smaller in women and donors older than 55 years. The age-specific infection fatality rate (IFR) differed between cities and consistently increased with age. The infection hospitalisation rate (IHR) increased significantly during the Gamma-dominated second wave in Manaus, suggesting increased morbidity of the Gamma VOC compared to previous variants circulating in Manaus. The higher disease penetrance associated with the health system's collapse increased the overall IFR by a minimum factor of 2.91 (95% CrI 2.43 – 3.53). These results highlight the utility of blood donor serosurveillance to track epidemic maturity and demonstrate demographic and spatial heterogeneity in SARS-CoV-2 spread.</span></p>
