ESMUC Choir Dataset
<p><strong>ESMUC Choir Dataset</strong> is a multi-track dataset of Western choral music that contains individual audio recordings of 12 singers, all of them undergraduate students in vocal performance at <a href="https://www.esmuc.cat/">Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC)</a>, the professional music school in Barcelona (Spain), at the time of recording.</p> <p>ECD is released as part of the following Ph.D. dissertation:</p> <p>Helena Cuesta. Data-driven Pitch Content Description of Choral Singing Recordings. PhD thesis, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. 2022 (to appear).</p> <p>Singers are unevenly distributed into Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass (SATB) sections and were recorded simultaneously. A close-up microphone captured each voice, and the whole choir sound was captured by two stereo room microphones placed at two different distances from the singers. ECD comprises all audio files from the multi-track recording and manually corrected annotations of F0 contours and notes.</p> <p><br> ECD includes the following pieces:</p> <ul> <li><em>Die Himmel erzählen die Ehre Gottes</em> (Op. 11, SWV 386), written by Heinrich Schütz (Germany, 1585-1672).</li> <li><em>Der Greis,</em> written by Franz Joseph Haydn (Austria, 1732-1809).</li> <li><em>Seele Christi, heilige mich</em>, written by Anton Heiller (Austria, 1923-1979).</li> </ul> <p>All singers' tracks are mono audio files, and the two room mics are stereo, all using a sampling rate of 44 100 Hz. The total duration of accumulated audio for the entire dataset is roughly 31 minutes.</p> <p>ECD contains three songs, two of them recorded in shorter parts, as well as some brief voice warm-up exercises. For each of the songs, the dataset presents three modalities:</p> <ol> <li>Full takes (FT), where the song (or song part) is performed from beginning to end by the entire choir.</li> <li>Isolated section (IS), where some sections are recorded in isolation (other sections are silent) performing parts of the songs.</li> <li>Short excerpts (SE), which are short passages of the songs, mostly performed to practice challenging parts, performed by the full choir.</li> </ol> <p>Songs and warm-up exercises are organized in <em>Takes</em>, which are numbered, i.e., take1 or take3. For the IS setting, filenames refer to the choir section. Similarly, the short passages are indicated by SE and the passage number. Finally, we denote each singer using S/A/T/B and a number, e.g., T3 refers to the third tenor.</p> <p>All audio tracks from the dataset, except the room microphones, have two associated annotation files: one for the F0 contour, and a second one with the note annotations. Tracks from the warm-up exercises only have F0 contours, since there is no associated score to them.</p> <p>A README file accompanies the dataset with specific information about the filenames.</p> <p>All dataset files and the README are compressed in the provided zip file.</p> <p><em>Special cases</em>:</p> <ul> <li><em>Die Himmel</em> has two soprano parts and two tenor parts. In the dataset: <ul> <li>Soprano part 1 is sung by S1 and S2</li> <li>Soprano part 2 is sung by S3, S4, and S5</li> <li>Tenor part 1 is sung by T1 and T2</li> <li>Tenor part 2 is sung by T3</li> </ul> </li> <li>For some takes, singers from different sections were mixed (e.g., randomly distributed and not grouped by section). Song capturing lived-experiences of flooding and climate resilience with St. Eugenes Choir Newtownstewart (BluePrint project)
<p>This audio piece represents one of the creative risk communication outputs co-created within the BluePrint project. Between March and October 2024, socially engaged artist Sara Walmsley worked creatively with flood-affected community representatives in Newtownstewart, Co. Tyrone and Eglinton, Co. Derry-Londonderry exploring their lived-experiences of flooding and need for climate adaptation and resilience. </p> <p>In the audio piece, you will hear the melodic, polyphonic harmonies of St. Eugene’s Church choir (Newtownstewart) as they give music to the words of members of their community whose homes were destroyed and lives endangered by flood water. The piece captures the voices of those striving to adapt to our changing climate, those who are responding to the urgency by finding solace, hope, strength and courage in the unending and unsurprising resilience and creativity of our communities. </p> <p>The BluePrint project is led by the MaREI Centre, University College Cork, with partners the Playhouse, Derry City and Strabane District Council, and Mayo County Council. The BluePrint project is a recipient of the Creative Climate Action fund, an initiative from the Creative Ireland Programme. Satellite derived chlorophyll-a of the Ohio and Illinois Rivers (CHOIR), 1984-2022
Chlorophyll-a is a vital water quality parameter used to quantify concentrations of algal biomass in freshwater systems. However, insufficient field data in the Ohio River Basin has resulted in limited understanding of the development of algal blooms. We built a 38-year (1984 – 2022) dataset of satellite derived chlorophyll-a predictions to support research efforts which aim to quantify the frequency and intensity of river algal blooms. We developed our model by leveraging coinciding in situ chlorophyll-a data and surface reflectance extracted from Landsat Collection 2 Tier 1, referred to as matchups. Matchups were used to train and test our machine learning model. We also extracted Landsat surface reflectance over 6,116 NHD river reaches using similar methods. We then applied our model to this reach-level data to create a comprehensive dataset of chlorophyll-a predictions. This dataset includes the following files: 1) data used to train and test the model (matchups), 2) the model infrastructure, 3) satellite derived chlorophyll-a predictions aggregated over NHD river reaches, and 4) a shapefile of NHD river reaches.
GLOBAL YUSTE CHOIR
Monasterio de Yuste, Logroño, Spain In the choir of the church, at the foot of the building, there is one of the most important pieces of the building, the ashlar. The authorship of the work carried out in the first third of the sixteenth century is unknown, although the stylistic differences between the lower and upper part of it suggest that the gestation of the work goes back to the late fifteenth century, within a few Gothic postulates. Composed of 61 sites, 31 highs and 30 lows, in addition to a bench of three seats, its iconography is dominated by the fauna, both real and fantastic, full of symbology of vices and virtues. For their negative qualities appear the dog, the deer or the peacock, allegories, among others, of gluttony, dirt and pride, respectively Scenes of criticism of the vices and social customs of meanings well known at the time, also appear in various places, for example, friars who criticize the custom of drinking, or mythological themes, such as the works of Hercules.
