AfriConEU Digital Innovation Ecosystem Dataset
<p>This dataset serves as a comprehensive resource capturing the activities and events conducted under the AfriConEU initiative, contributing as a valuable tool and secondary data source for those interested in studying the digital innovation ecosystem, particularly in Africa and Europe.</p> <p><strong>Purpose:</strong> This dataset aims to facilitate research and analysis of the digital innovation landscape by providing a wealth of data on event participation, pre-event baselines, and post-event evaluations. The impact of market integration on the digital divide: An analysis based on the heterogeneous effect of innovation resource synergy
<p>Resource market reforms have provided opportunities for reducing the digital divide (DD). In this study, we analyzed the theoretical mechanism of the impact of market integration (MI) on DD and the intermediary role of innovation resource (IR) synergy. Data from 271 cities in China were collected, and the DEA–Malmquist index and Thiel index were utilized to quantify DD among these cities during 2011–2019. The intermediary effect and SDM models were adopted for an empirical analysis. The results showed that (1) MI had a negative effect on DD in addition to significant spatial spillover effects. MI widened DD in the local city but narrowed the same in the adjacent cities. (2) IR synergy exerted positive intermediary effects, which were heterogeneous. Through human resource synergy, MI narrowed DD, through knowledge synergy, MI widened DD, and through the R&D capital synergy, MI did not significantly influence DD. (3) There was no significant spatial spillover effect of the intermediary role of IR synergy.</p>

<p>In this ISP Insight Video, coordinator Marianne Hörlesberger tells you more about the EU Project DigiTeRRI which deals with a Responsible Research & Innovation Approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalised industry territories. The EU project DigiTeRRI empowers 3 traditional industry regions to harness the opportunities presented by digitalisation. The project has co-created a framework and roadmaps for a responsible transition to self-sustaining, digitalised industrial innovation ecosystems. It has worked out the challenges in the interplay between business, academia, government and society to initiate openness, democratic accountability and responsiveness in a process that will in turn promote resilience within these new, digitalised innovation ecosystems. Important attributes for this transition are also gender equality, science education, open access, public engagement, and ethics, which support both organisations and citizens in adapting the transformation that is revolutionising research, industry, economy, & society. Finally, 12 actions, based on the roadmap goals and objectives in each territory have been developed and implemented. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement nº 873010.</p>
"Unlocking the Urban Code. Digital Social Innovation and City Spaces"
<p>DSI in the City is a project funded by MUR-PRIN 2022 led by Chiara Certomà (PI, University Sapienza Rome) and Venere Sanna (University of Siena). Survey - Business Model Innovations in the Digital Publishing Industry: A Question of reluctance to innovate?
<p>News Publishers today struggle with their business model: their efforts to convert their traditional business into digital products have generally proven to be futile. In order to explore a possible reluctance to innovate in the digital news publishing industry, in our study we are focusing on the Digital News Initiative (DNI) which is a partnership between Google and news publishers across Europe to support high-quality journalism through technology and foster innovation. Founded in 2015, the DNI has already funded over 460 projects across Europe with €94m. In our study we will deep dive into these projects by categorizing the type of innovation in a simple document analysis. Afterwards we will conduct a explorative survey with publishers. This will help us finding out whether they also dealt with a reluctance to innovate within their organization, what the main obstacles have been during their innovation process and how they have overcome them. The explorative results are not only valid for publishers but can also be transferred to other industries whose products and services are affected by digitalization.</p> <p>Anonymus survey with 31 full answers from publishers in the DACH Region conducted with LimeSurvey in March 2018.</p>
