Dataset to Model the Sustainability of a Primary School Digital Education Curricular Reform and Professional Development Program

This dataset contains the quantitative teacher data used to analyse the sustainability of an in-service teacher training program for Digital Education that took place from September 2019 to March 2020 in the Canton Vaud in Switzerland. As such, the study follows up on the 350 teachers over a year after the end of their professional development program had ended in order to model the sustainability of the reform, understand to what extent sustainability had been reached, thus validating the curricular reform model and helping draw recommendations for researchers and practitioners involved in Digital Education curricular reforms. As such, approximately 290 teachers from grades 1-4 in primary school (ages 5-9) responded to two sustainability surveys using web-based questionnaire to provide information relating to their perception of the training sessions and adoption of the computer science activities.

The study is accepted for publication in Education and Information Technologies.

A README is included and provides additional information regarding :

- the requirements for re-use.

- the specific content of the 2 csv files

KEE01 Prairie phenology data from Konza Environmental Education Program (KEEP) since 2001
This data represents the "phenology" or timing of observable biological processes, e.g. first day of blooming, first sighting of a migratory species, etc... as reported by volunteers with the Konza Environmental Education Program. The reports do not follow a specific experimental design and are based on the individual's knowledge and skills. Data is also available on the KEEP website (https://keep.konza.k-state.edu/prairieecology/index.html).

MakeCode and CODAL: Intuitive and Efficient Embedded Systems Programming for Education (Artifact Evaluation)

This artifact allows others to reproduce the results seen in this paper for MakeCode and CODAL, using the BBC micro:bit. The artifact contains an offline build environment for CODAL and MakeCode, allowing evaluators to test and build programs locally. In addition, we also provide espruino and micropython virtual machines to further increase repeatability of our results. Evaluators should download the virtual machine containing all pre-requisite tools, and use an oscilloscope to observe wave forms (used for timing) generated by the micro:bit, and a serial terminal to observe results reported from the micro:bit over serial.

Full documentation is available at: https://lancaster-university.github.io/lctes-artefact-evaluation/

Educational and workforce development through creation of programs in transportation to generate future careers for our students in Navajo Nation region

Navajo Technical University (NTU) in New Mexico, has made a partnership with the Tran-SET regional center at Louisiana State University, LSU. We have provided learning and training the Native American students in transportation-related Industries to some of STEM students at NTU through these partnerships opportunities.
The program was designed and supported by Native American students from high school to STEM undergraduate students. The program was implemented accordingly with four main components: (1). Selected eligible and interested
Native American student to paid summer internships to the field and facilities of transportations industries and participate in research summer at LSU. (2). Directed the students to the transportation-related workshops and conducting at research NTU and they provided with and prepared them with the necessary background in transportation fields. (3). Several students were selected to research during the academic semester related to the field particularly, analyzing the causes of workforce shortages in the transportation industry. (4). We are planning to create and offer transportation certificate programs at NTU to train and expose the Native American students in transportation fields in the future if we get additional funding. We also proposed projects and conducted significant outreach activities in some of the local high schools and colleges. If successful we are planning to develop online courses, which would be provided for free to the Native American universities across the nation in order to make this program more sustainable.
Also, we are expected and planning to support 15-20 undergraduate and high school students per year through this partnership program. Other activities undertaken by NTU were the collaboration with different research, education, and outreach projects related to transportations undertaken by the NTU faculty partners. Some of the NTU STEM and pre-engineering students participated in the summer research internship programs, educational, laboratory, site visits as well as exposing students to the most technically-advanced Material research laboratories in Region 6 as well as state-of-the-art facilities at LSU. Some NTU students worked with local industries and agencies to enhance workforce development in the region.

Associated data underlying the article "OPEN GOVERNMENT DATA (OGD) IN EUROPEAN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS CURRICULUM CURRENT STATE AND PROSPECTS"

Associated data underlying the article

Rizun, Nina; Ciesielska, Magdalena; Alexopoulos, Charalampos; Saxena,Stuti; Papageorgiou, Georgios International Conference on Open Data (ICOD 2022): Book of abstracts, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, pp. 26-29 (978-953-270-167-8).

https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.8069910

It is everybody’s knowledge now that Open Government Data (OGD) pertains to the availability of datasets pertaining to government operations and functioning via license-free formats (Afful-Dadzie and Afful-Dadzie, 2017) and these datasets are linked with different themes contingent upon the area of administration like energy, education, climate, tourism, environment, infrastructure, etc. (Ubaldi, 2013). Governments have been benchmarking their OGD initiatives across standard indices like ODIN, OKFN, Open Data Barometer, etc. (Lnenicka et al., 2022; Lnenicka and Nikiforova, 2021) and ample research exists on assessing the quality of OGD portals from the demand (i.e. the governments’ efforts at maintaining the quality of datasets) and supply (i.e. the perceptions of users regarding the quality of datasets) side (Crusoe et al., 2019; de Souza et al., 2022; Islam et al., 2021; Kaasenbrood et al., 2015; Khurshid et al., 2022; Lnenicka et al., 2022; Purwanto et al., 2020; Saxena and Janssen, 2017; Shehata and Elgllab, 2021; Talukder et al., 2019; Weerakkody et al., 2017; Wirtz et al., 2016; Wirtz et al., 2018; Wirtz et al., 2019; Zuiderwijk et al., 2015). Given the magnitude of academic interest on OGD- especially in the last 10 years- it remains to be assessed as to how far has the domain progressed in the academic environs and surprisingly, no research has been conducted to elucidate the infusion of this very significant domain- that is relatable to the extent to which the governments are forwarding their claims regarding the furtherance of transparent and corruption-free administration apart from bolstering citizen participation, collaboration and trust (Gil-Garcia et al., 2020; Hellberg and Hedstrom, 2015) besides serving as a means for value creation and innovation by a range of stakeholders (Jetzek et al., 2012; Jetzek et al., 2014) - in the diverse platforms that are meant for furthering academic dialogue and discussion.
