Fig. 3 in Upstream dam impacts on gilded catfish Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae) in the Bolivian Amazon

Fig. 3. Mean annual fishing effort and capture per unit effort (CPUE) of Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii (black bars) per month in the Ichilo River before (1998–2007) and after dam closure (2015–2017) using catfish-specific fishing methods. Mean monthly water level (MWL) in Puerto Villarroel for the two sample periods is shown (SENAMHI 2018), with vertical lines representing standard deviation. The horizontal bars show the period when commercial fishing is prohibited.

Paavo Nurmi's Gilded Shoe

Paavo Nurmi (1897–1973) dominated the world of long-distance running in the 1920's. He won a total of nine gold and three silver medals at three Olympic Games from 1920 to 1928 and made 22 official world records in outdoor races. The gilded spike shoe of Paavo Nurmi was first put on display in the Finnish pavilion at the 1939–40 New York World's Fair. The "gilding" was actually made with copper alloy. The shoe was one of the first exhibits on display when the Sports Museum of Finland was opened for public at the Olympic Stadium in 1943. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Dims: H 8cm Accession No: MG 139/025 Current Location: [The Hunt Museum](https://www.huntmuseum.com/) [Limerick](https://www.geonames.org/7778675/limerick-city.html). A gilded bronze donkey with a [bridle](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300248092) of browband, noseband, cheek-strap and throat-strap. A hole in its back suggests a saddle or pannier. The gilding has mostly worn away on the centre back. The four hooves are clearly defined and the long tail hangs straight. The ears sit up straight and the mouth is slightly open. Opposing holes on the mouth suggest a [bit](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300248085) and reins were attached. Domestic donkeys have origins in Egypt c.4000BC. They were vital to trade route expansion and later the Roman Empire relied on donkeys as pack animals to navigate routes such as the Silk Road from the second-century BC. Investigations on Fire-Gilding

Fire-gilding is a historic technique for the application of golden layers on a number of different base materials, identifiable by the Hg content of these layers. Considering recent findings, the previously accepted lower limit for Hg content comes into scrutiny, motivating the development of a new, destruction-free identification method independent of the absolute Hg content. During the course of development, we identified a characteristic Hg profile in fire-gildings on Ag substrates and gathered evidence to further corroborate the accept lower limit.

Wmid-50c739 - Medieval gilded mount

A possible Medieval three dimensional copper alloy and gilded figure dating to circa AD 1200-1500. The figure is seated holding a globe in the left hand which is resting on the persons knee. The right hand appears to be broken. The figure has long hair to the shoulders. The figure has a long skirt which falls to the ankles with drapery around the shoulders which is held together on the chest with a circular fastening. The object is flat at the bottom so it can stand. The reverse is flat and appears to have the remains of two circular rivets which means it may have once been attached to another object. This find has been recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme. The full database record can be viewed online at: https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/1006304.
