INDIGO Graffiti Reference Database
<p>There is an extensive body of popular and scholarly literature on ancient and recent graffiti. The <strong>INDIGO Graffiti Reference Database</strong> was created to collect much of this graffiti-related literature in one place. It also contains literature about street art because contemporary graffiti and street art are hard to disentangle, and their relationship and hierarchy depend upon the source one consults. The database is a product of the academic graffiti project INDIGO.</p> <p>This collection of references is made available in two forms:</p> <ul> <li>a closed-source <a href="https://www.citavi.com/en">Citavi</a> database (the *.ctv6archive file);</li> <li>an open-source <a href="https://www.zotero.org">Zotero</a> database <ul> <li>either <a href="https://www.zotero.org/groups/5192206/indigo_graffiti_reference_database/library">consultable online</a> (reading only),</li> <li>or downloadable here as a Zotero RDF or BibTex file (*.rdf and *.bib, respectively) for import into Zotero or other reference managers.</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
INDIGO Graffiti Terminology Database
<p>In the existing body of graffiti literature—both popular and scholarly—many attempts have been made to describe or structure graffiti-related terminology. The <strong>INDIGO Graffiti Terminology Database</strong> collects graffiti-related terms and their definitions as they appear in the glossaries, dictionaries and various controlled vocabularies consulted within project INDIGO.</p> <p>This dataset currently holds <strong>2134 definitions</strong> (1728 in English, 303 in German, 61 in French and 42 in Italian) from <strong>48 sources</strong>, made available via:</p> <ul> <li>a text-based *.txt file where all the values are tab-separated;</li> <li>a Microsoft Office Excel *.xlsx spreadsheet file, which also provides extra information about the sources consulted.</li> </ul> <p>Although the amalgamated terminology sources are, in one way or another, suboptimal to organise knowledge on graffiti terms, this dataset has helped shape <a href="http://vocabs.acdh.oeaw.ac.at/indigo/Thesaurus">INDIGO's Graffiti Thesaurus</a>. In addition, it can be a useful resource for anyone who wants to compare how different authors define the same term. WW1 trench with graffitis, Helsinki, Finland
First World War trench with a lot of great graffitis in base XVIII:10 in [Krepost Sveaborg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krepost_Sveaborg) land front defense line in Kasemattikallio park, Maununneva, Helsinki, Finland. The base was built in 1915 - 1918. The D-Day Wall, Southampton - Historic Graffiti
In the build up to D-Day, American servicemen inscribed their names and home towns on a brick wall of the then mortuary building prior to embarkation from Southampton heading to the beaches of Normandy on June 6th 1944. The project commemorates the 75th anniversary of D-Day through recording of the wall and its inscriptions using a range of photographic techniques, as well as research into the surviving names to try to identify individuals and find out more about their stories. Male figure graffiti in Villarrubia Jail
The 18th century jail of Villarrubia de los Ojos, built on the ground floor of the old City Hall building, is located in the center of the town of Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real, Spain). As in other jails of the same period, the walls of some cells contain engravings (graffiti). Among all of them here it is possible to distinguish human legs. Possibly it is a representation of a complete male figure but only the representation of the lower half has been preserved in good condition. 3D model made in Reality Capture software using 139 images. KD040-002002 - Round Tower - Graffiti Date
A small stone on the Castledermot Round Tower has a date of 1657 inscribed. It may coincide with the period when the church was refurbished in the 17th century after being damaged by Cromwell's forces. Source Archaeology.ie - The lower portion of the round tower survives (H. c. 20m). It is of granite with limestone pinnings (int diam. 2.5m; wall Th 2.37m). There are five floors with medieval crenellations above two string courses, but the modern floors do not correspond to the original levels. The entrance is at ground level through a flat lintelled battered doorway. There is an arched window on the first floor, and a flat headed windows between the second and third floors. The windows at the top, and the crenelations are of sixteenth century date. It is joined to the church by a vaulted corridor with wicker centring, of fifteenth century type. RealityScan beta iPhone test - Graffiti Barrier
Graffiti covered cement Jersey barrier scanned with the iPhone app called RealityScan. This thing is located in DTLA near the river in a huge empty area near the 1st street Viaduct. The lighting was very bad for scanning, sunset, so you see a big shadow. BUT the results are OK, it was about 50 photos, they all upload to the cloud for processing, so I do wonder how much phone data that took, but it works pretty well. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Myddelton Passage Brick Graffiti
Carved/inscribed graffiti on a brick wall on the south side of Myddelton Passage, Islington, London. This section is just opposite the gap between the two housing blocks. The numbers and letters were carved by police officers in the 19th Century while patrolling this once dark and narrow passage.
