Fig. 1. Life cycle of Uncinaria sp. in South American fur seals (Arctocephalus australis). Pups get infected through ingestion of colostrum that contains infective stage 3 larvae (L3s). Within 2-weeks, hookworms reach adulthood in the small intestine and shed eight-celled eggs in the pup's feces. Eggs larvate in the rookery soil and larvae develop into sheathed infective L3s which penetrate the skin and reach the subcutaneous tissues of all animals in the rookery. However, Uncinaria sp. larvae only have a chance to reach the next definitive host in females, which give birth and produce colostrum once a year, repeating the cycle. It is very likely that female pups can keep larvae in their tissues until they reach maturity and pass them to their pup (blue arrow). All males are dead end hosts. Poultry Birds Poo Imagery Dataset for Health Status Prediction
<p>Imagery dataset of chicken poo of both healthy and non-healthy collected from poultry farms rearing two species of chickens namely: broilers and layers in Nigeria. The dataset has a total of 14,618 labeled images with 100 × 100 pixels in jpeg format and a label indicating the name of the image from the image number. In the repository, data were uploaded into 2 separate folders; each folder of either healthy or non-healthy contain images taken from different time to the day; morning, afternoon, night and others.</p>
Price discounts on low energy dense foods on food intake and health status
<p>The objective of this study was to observe the effects of a multi-level (30%, 15%, and 0%) randomized discount on fruits, vegetables, and non-caloric beverages on changes in dietary intake. This randomized controlled trial (RCT) comprised an 8-week baseline, a 32-week intervention, and a 16-week follow-up. 24-hour dietary recalls were conducted during the baseline period and before the intervention midpoint. In-person clinical measures were analyzed from Week 8 (end of baseline) and 24 (midpoint). This report is from an interim analysis up to the intervention period midpoint at Week 24, as the study is still ongoing. Participants with BMIs of 24.5-50 kg/m<sup>2</sup> and ages 18-70 years old who were the primary household shoppers were recruited from several New York City supermarkets, starting in September 2018. Of these, we analyzed 20 in the 30% discount group, 25 in the 15% discount group, and 19 in the 0% discount group. The 30% discount group reported greater intake of vegetables (+98.4 g ± 48.9 SD, <em>P </em>= 0.049) and diet soda (+63.3 g ± 29.3, <em>P</em> = 0.035) relative to the baseline period, compared to the 0% discount group. The clinical measures including body weight remained unchanged. The participants who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic had a marginal increase in body weight of 1.5 kg, P = 0.053. In conclusion, we observed a significant increase in intake of vegetables and diet soda in the 30% discount group relative to the 0% discount group.</p>

<p>This dataset comprises a profession-clinical knowledge graph, derived from the co-occurrence of normalised concepts identified in two distinct corpora: the Mesinesp2 corpus, a manually annotated corpus in which domain experts have labelled a set of scientific literature, clinical trials, and patent abstracts, as well as clinical case reports. A dataset of 5 million city trees from 63 US cities: species, location, nativity status, health, and more.
<p>Sustainable cities depend on urban forests. City trees -- a pillar of urban forests -- improve our health, clean the air, store CO2, and cool local temperatures. Comparatively less is known about urban forests as ecosystems, particularly their spatial composition, nativity statuses, biodiversity, and tree health. Here, we assembled and standardized a new dataset of N=<span>5,660,237</span> trees from 63 of the largest US cities. The data comes from tree inventories conducted at the level of cities and/or neighborhoods. Each data sheet includes detailed information on tree location, species, nativity status (whether a tree species is naturally occurring or introduced), health, size, whether it is in a park or urban area, and more (comprising 28 standardized columns per datasheet). This dataset could be analyzed in combination with citizen-science datasets on bird, insect, or plant biodiversity; social and demographic data; or data on the physical environment. Urban forests offer a rare opportunity to intentionally design biodiverse, heterogenous, rich ecosystems.</p>
Plant Health Status
<p>These are the results of the predictions from the xylella classifier on the validation dataset, which contains 1200 health statuses, with 400 for each health status condition. As we can see from the confusion matrix, the model almost perfectly recognizes Asymptomatic health status, distinguishing it clearly from Mild and Evident symptomatic statuses.</p>
Illness perception mediates the relationship between the severity of symptoms and perceived health status in patients with Behcet's disease.
<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><em>Objective</em>. To investigate the relationship between psychological representations of illness, perceived health status and self-assessment of symptom severity in patients with <strong>Behçet's</strong>Disease – a rare long-term incurable condition with unclear etiology.</p> <p><em>Methods</em>. Using cross-sectional survey design, data on self-administered questionnaires on illness perception, health status, symptoms severity and demographic characteristics were collected from 273 patients with <strong>Behçet's</strong>Disease (age range 18 – 65+). The data were subjected to mediation analysis to test whether cognitive and emotional components of illness perception mediate the relationship between the severity of symptoms and heath status.</p> <p><em>Results</em>. The results support our hypotheses that cognitive components of illness perception (perceived consequences and identity of the illness) mediate the link between symptom activity and pain, whereas emotional components of the illness (emotional representations about the illness) mediate the relationship between disease activity and perceived energy level.</p> <p> <em>Conclusion</em>. The robustness of these mediation effects suggests potential directions for clinical psychologists and health care practitioners in developing support programmes. We supplement our study with Open Access database containing information about type of medication, comorbid mood disorder, detailed measurement of the severity of BD symptomsfor sharing and accumulating multidisciplinary knowledge aiming to support the development of interventions. Public health emergency operations centres in Africa: A cross-sectional study assessing the implementation status of core components and areas for improvement, December 2021
<div> <p><span><strong>Objective:</strong> </span><span>To assess implementation status of Public Health Emergency Operations Centres (PHEOCs) in all countries in Africa.</span></p> <p><span><strong>Design:</strong> </span><span>Cross-sectional.</span></p> <p><span><strong>Setting:</strong> </span><span>Fifty-four national PHEOC focal points in Africa responded to an online survey between May and November 2021. Included variables aimed to assess capacities for each of the four PHEOC core components. To assess the PHEOCs' functionality, criteria were defined from among the collected variables by expert consensus based on PHEOC operations' prioritisation. We report results of the descriptive analysis, including frequencies of proportions.</span></p> <p><span><strong>Results:</strong> </span><span>A total of 51 (93%) African countries responded to the survey. Among these, 41 (80%) have established a PHEOC. Twelve (29%) of these met 80% or more of the minimum requirements and were classified as fully functional. Twelve (29%) and 17 (41%) PHEOCs that met 60%–79% and below 60% of the minimum requirements were classified as functional and partially functional, respectively. </span></p> <p><span><strong>Conclusions:</strong> </span><span>Countries in Africa made considerable progress in setting up and improving functioning of PHEOCs. One-third of the responding countries with a PHEOC have one fulfilling at least 80% of the minimum requirements to operate the critical emergency functions. There are still several African countries that either do not have a PHEOC or whose PHEOCs only partially meet these minimal requirements. This calls for significant collaboration across all stakeholders to establish functional PHEOCs in Africa.</span></p> </div>
Hematology and health status of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus fed with Moringa oleifera enriched pellets and infected with Aeromonas hydrophila
<p><em>Moringa oleifera</em> leaves can be used to improve the health of fish in general. To understand the effectiveness of moringa leaves powder addition in improving the immunity of <em>Pangasianodon hypophthalmus</em> toward <em>Aeromonas hydrophila</em> attack, This study has been conducted from June to September 2022. The fish was fed with moringa powder enriched pellets and then infected with <em>A.hydrophila</em>. There were 4 treatments applied, namely Negative Control (no moringa and no infection), Positive Control (no moringa, infection), T1 (5 g/kg, infection), T2 (10 g/kg, infection), and T3 (15 g/kg, infection). The fingerlings of <em>P.hypopthalmus</em> (3.5±0.5g BW) were reared for 45 days (1 fish/4L water) and fed 3 times/day, 5% of body weight. <em>A.hydrophila</em> was infected through injection (0.1 mL of 108 CFU/mL) on the 31st day. The hematology of the fish was checked on the 31st day and the 14th day after infection (or on the 45th day of the research). Results showed that after being treated with moringa for 30 days, the hematology of fish in all treatments showed almost no difference. However, the Phagocytic Index was slightly higher in the moringa-treated fish, they were around 20.33% (in NC and PC) and 23.33-25.67% (in T1, T2, and T3) respectively. On the 14th day after the infection, the Phagocytic Index increased to 26.67%; 29.00%, and 30.33% in T1, T2, and T3 respectively. There was no Positive Control fish that survive by the end of the experiment, while 88.89 – 97.77% of moringa-treated fish survive, and the infection wound was completely cured. Data obtained indicate the Moringa addition in the fish feed pellets is effective to improve the immunity of <em>P.hypopthalmus</em> against <em>A.hydrophila</em> infection</p>
