MedAID_Key performance indicators for gilthead seabream on-growing under summer temperatures

This data set contains the results from a nutritional trial performed at the Centre of Marine Sciences of Algarve (CCMAR, Faro, Portugal) within the framework of WP2 of the MedAID project (Mediterranean Aquaculture Integrated Development, Horizon 2020, GA number 727315). This experiment evaluated the impacts of protein to lipid ratios in low fishmeal/fish oil diets on key performance indicators of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata, initial weight: 100 g ± 7 g) on-grown during summer temperature conditions. For further information on experimental conditions, please refer to the publication: “Aragão C., Cabano M., Colen R., Teodósio R., Gisbert E., Dias J. and Engrola S., 2022. Modulation of dietary protein to lipid ratios for gilthead seabream on-growing during summer temperature conditions. Aquaculture Reports, 25: 101262. doi:10.1016/j.aqrep.2022.101262”. Optimal elevated agrivoltaic system design and key performance indicators across Europe based on three crop light levels

Optimal elevated (stilted) agrivoltaic system design (PV coverage ratio) is given on a European gridded level (25km grid and NUTS3 regions) based on three light levels: shade-loving crops (daily light integral (DLI) of 12 mol/m²day), shade-tolerant crops (DLI of 12 mol/m²day) and shade-intolerant crops (DLI of 25 mol/m²day)

Estimations of other performance indicators are given: power capacity (kWp/ha), energy production (MWh/ha), levelized cost of electricity (€/MWh) and land equivalent ratio (LER -).

The assumptions and methodology of this dataset can be found in the article "Geospatial assessment of elevated agrivoltaics on arable land in Europe to highlight the implications on design, land use and economic level."

Interactive maps can be found on https://iiw.kuleuven.be/apps/agrivoltaics/maps.html

MedAID_Key performance indicators for gilthead seabream reared under low temperature

This experiment impacts aimed to evaluate growth performance, feed utilisation, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen losses to the environment in gilthead seabream juveniles (Sparus aurata, initial weight: ± 154.5 g) reared under low temperature (~13°C). Three diets were tested: a commercial-like diet (COM), containing 44% crude protein and 27.5% fishmeal, and two experimental diets with a lower protein content of 42% (ECO and ECOSup). In both ECO diets fishmeal inclusion was reduced (10% in ECO and 7.5% in ECOSup diet) and 15% poultry meal was included. Additionally, the ECOSup diet was supplemented with a mix of feed additives intended to promote fish growth performance and feed intake. For further information on experimental conditions, please refer to the publication: “Teodósio R., Aragão C., Colen R., Carrilho R., Dias J. and Engrola S., 2021. A nutritional strategy to promote gilthead seabream performance under low temperatures. Aquaculture 537: 736494. doi:10.1016/j.aquaculture.2021.736494”. AQUAVITAE_Fish key performance indicators for diets from fisheries by-catch valorisation

This dataset contains the key performance indicators associated with a nutritional trial performed at the Centro de Ciências do Mar do Algarve (CCMAR, Faro, Portugal) within the framework of the Cross-cutting Case Study on by-products of the AquaVitae project (New species, processes and products contributing to increased production and improved sustainability in emerging low trophic, and existing low and high trophic aquaculture value chains in the Atlantic) funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme (GA 818173). Two FPHs were prepared from the enzymatic hydrolysis of discards from whole-body blue whiting (Micromesistius poutassou) and gurnard heads (Trigla spp.); the former contained a higher proportion of large peptides (LP), while the latter had more small peptides (SP). Gilthead seabream juveniles (initial weight ± 8.0 g) were reared on four isoproteic (48%) and isolipic (16%) diets for eight weeks. Basal diets were a commercial-like diet (COM) and a diet based on ingredients not used directly for human consumption (FUTURE diet - FUT), without FM or soy protein concentrate. The FUT diet was further supplemented with one of the FPHs (FUTLP and FUTSP diets).
