Plant and root biomass, nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus concentrations in a mesic acidic tussock tundra experimental site established in 1981(MAT81) and harvested in 2015, Arctic LTER, Toolik Lake, Alaska.
Plant and root biomass, nitrogen, carbon, and phosphorus were measured in 2015 in the Arctic LTER tussock tundra experimental site (MAT81). This site was established in 1981 and has been harvested in previous years (see Shaver and Chapin Ecological Monographs, 61(1), 1991, pp.1-31, https://doi.org/10.2307/1942997). Data tables include the biomass for each harvested quadrat and block summaries for percent carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus for control and fertilized plots from the original 4-block design. New control plots, established in 2015, are in a separate data table and include biomass, percent carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus for each quadrat.
Nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in discrete water column samples collected from lakes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (1993-2020, ongoing)
An important part of the McMurdo Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project is identifying patterns and movements of nutrients in perennial ice-covered lakes. This dataset addresses this core area of research and quantifies macronutrient concentrations (NH4+, NO3-, NO2, SRP) found at specific depths in McMurdo Dry Valley lakes.
Particulate phosphorus concentrations in discrete water column samples collected from lakes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (2006-2019)
An key component of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project involves the long-term monitoring of nutrient cycles. This data package contributes to this core area of research by quantifying particulate phosphorus concentrations found at specific depths in several perennially ice-covered lakes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys region of Antarctica.
Total nitrogen and total phosphorus concentrations from surface water samples collected by the Citizen-Led Environmental Observatory (CLEO) from multiple nearshore sites in Lake Lillinonah, Connecticut, USA, 2011-current
Included in this data package are water quality data from the Citizen-Led Environmental Observatory (CLEO), a volunteer water quality monitoring program run by Friends of the Lake (FOTL, friendsofthelake.org) and Fairfield University at Lake Lillinonah, Connecticut, USA. The program has been operational since 2008 (data available 2011-current). Trained volunteer monitors collect surface water samples from multiple nearshore sites twice a month from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These samples are analyzed for total nitrogen and total phosphorus concentrations. Water samples are also analyzed for levels of the toxin microcystin. Additionally, CLEO volunteers collect data on water temperature, Secchi disk depth, water color, presence of floating woody debris, recreation potential, trash, particle type and surface scum every 1-3 days during the same period. These additional data are available in EDI packages EDI567 (general water quality) and EDI569 (toxins).
Datasets relating (i) A wetland fish multimetric index to variation in agricultural stress among Laurentian Great Lakes coastal wetlands, (ii) Cyanobacteria biomass to total phosphorus concentrations among Canadian lakes

We present two datasets of biological responses against environmental stresses. In the first dataset, the biological response and environmental stress variables are fish multimetric index of community health and agricultural stress, respectively, in watersheds draining to Laurentian Great Lakes. In the second dataset, the biological response and environmental stress variables are cyanobacterial biomass and total phosphorus, respectively, in Canadian Lakes.
