Data set and scripts - Influence of Festive Periods on Road Safety: Multidimensional Analysis (Road Accidents in Colombia 2017-2021)
<p>This dataset comprises historical information about road accidents in Colombia from 2017 to 2021, titled 'Road Accidents 2017-2021', containing 18,600 records of accident events on roads managed by the National Roads Institute (INVÍAS, 2021). The dataset includes 41 descriptors and was last updated on July 15, 2022. It has been published under the Open Data initiative (Law 1712 of 2014 on Transparency and Access to National Public Information).</p> <p>In addition to accident information, the dataset integrates a database with holiday dates and road identifiers, ensuring data coherence and quality for data analysis purposes. Statistical analysis is conducted through exploratory data analysis focusing on the years 2017 to 2021, utilizing Python (version 3.10) within the Jupyter Notebooks execution environment and specialized libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn), due to their ease of application for this dataset. After data normalization, the dataset comprises 18,554 records, with 46 excluded due to inconsistent data formats.</p>
Excitation energy transfer and vibronic coherence in intact phycobilisomes — multidimensional electronic spectroscopy data set and MATLAB and Julia analysis code
<p>Data sets used in the article "Excitation energy transfer and vibronic coherence in intact phycobilisomes" by Sil et al. The phycobilisomes were isolated from the short-filament mutant (SF33) of <em>Fremyella diplosiphon</em> UTEX 481 (also known as <em>Tolypothrix</em> sp. PCC 7601). Multidimensional electronic spectroscopy was performed with 6.7 fs mid-visible pulses (520–700 nm) using a pump–probe optical configuration using adaptive pulse shaping techniques. In addition to the full set of two-dimensional spectra and analysis files generated using global and target modeling and analysis of coherences (3DES oscillation maps), we provide here a linear absorption spectrum with phycobiliprotein component analysis as well as a set of 2D excitation–emission fluorescence spectra of intact and broken phycobilisome preparations. </p> <p>Sil, S.; Tilluck, R. Multidimensional impact assessment of a large collection of books using PlumX: methodology, technical limitations and indicators analysis [Complementary material to manuscript]
<p>The main purpose of this macro-study is to shed light on the broad impact of books. For this purpose, the impact a very large collection of books (more than 200,000) has been analysed by using PlumX, an analytical tool providing a great number of different metrics provided by various tools. Furthermore, the study focuses on the evolution of the most significant measures and indicators over time. The results show usage counts in comparison to the other metrics are quantitatively predominant. Catalogue holdings and reviews represent a book’s most characteristic measures deriving from its increased level of impact in relation to prior results. Our results also corroborate the long half-life of books within the scope of all metrics, excluding views and social media. Despite of some disadvantages, PlumX has proved to be a very helpful and promising tool for assessing the broad impact of books, especially because of how easy it is to enter the ISBN directly as well as its algorithm to aggregate all the data generated by the different ISBN variations.</p>
Code4Bench: A Multidimensional Benchmark of Codeforces Data for Different Program Analysis Techniques
<p>Reproducible research relies on well-designed benchmarks. However, evaluation on a single benchmark increases the risk of overfitting; that is, an optimization to reach a certain performance. In recent years several well-designed benchmarks have been constructed for different subfields of program analysis. However, they often involve real-world industrial projects in few languages such as C or Java. We provide Code4Bench, a benchmark comprising 3,421,357 programs totaling of 306,053,105 lines of code in 41 versions of 28 programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, and Kotlin. We have constructed this benchmark from Codeforces, a famous programming competition website, which is widely used by international programmers. Code4Bench advances the state-of-the-art in conducting reproducible and comparative experiments. It helps mitigate the bias and increase the generality and conclusiveness of the results. We present our methodology in construction of Code4Bench and give various descriptive statistics. We have also conducted an online survey on the users of Codeforces’ website whose code is included in the benchmark. The survey is concerned about the user’s demographic information and programming habits, whose results are also provided in the benchmark. Finally, we leveraged an automatic process by which we localized faults within the faulty versions and categorize them according to a coarse-grained classification. In addition to its usage in empirical studies, Code4Bench can be used to teach programming and evolve algorithmic problems. We release Code4Bench in database format to allow researchers to extract other data of the benchmark by arbitrary queries.</p> <p>Code4Bench version 1.0.0 is publicly available at <a href="https://zenodo.org/record/2582968">https://zenodo.org/record/2582968</a>, with DOI 10.5281/zenodo.2582968, thereby providing long-term storage and versioning. Multidimensional Statistical Technique for Interpreting the Spontaneous Breakthrough Cancer Pain Phenomenon. A Secondary Analysis from the IOPS-MS Study
<p>Simple Summary: Pain is one of the most common and debilitating symptoms in cancer patients. A clinical peculiarity of cancer pain is the breakthrough cancer pain (BTcP), which is defined as a temporary exacerbation of pain that “breaks through” a phase of adequate pain control by an opioid-based therapy. The NP-BTcP occurs in the absence of any specific activity. In this paper, we addressed the topic through a mathematical approach to provide many indications for identifying the diagnostic and therapeutic gaps in NP-BTcP management. Abstract: Breakthrough cancer pain (BTcP) is a temporary exacerbation of pain that “breaks through” a phase of adequate pain control by an opioid-based therapy. The non-predictable BTcP (NP-BTcP) is a subtype of BTcP that occurs in the absence of any specific activity. Since NP-BTcP has an important clinical impact, this analysis is aimed at characterizing the NP-BTcP phenomenon through a multidimensional statistical technique. This is a secondary analysis based on the Italian Oncologic Pain multiSetting—Multicentric Survey (IOPS-MS). A correlation analysis was performed to characterize the NP-BTcP profile about its intensity, number of episodes per day, and type. The multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) determined the identification of four groups (phenotypes). A univariate analysis was performed to assess differences between the four phenotypes and selected covariates. The four phenotypes represent the hierarchical classification according to the status of NP-BTcP: from the best (phenotype 1) to the worst (phenotype 4). The univariate analysis found a significant association between the onset time >10 min in the phenotype 1 (37.3%)’ vs. the onset > 10 min in phenotype 4 (25.8%) (p < 0.001). Phenotype 1 was characterized by the gastrointestinal type of cancer (26.4%) with respect to phenotype 4, where the most frequent cancer affected the lung (28.8%) (p < 0.001). Phenotype 4 was mainly managed with rapid-onset opioids, while in phenotype 1, many patients were treated with oral, subcutaneous, or intravenous morphine (56.4% and 44.4%, respectively; p = 0.008). The ability to characterize NP-BTcP can offer enormous benefits for the management of this serious aspect of cancer pain. Although requiring validation, this strategy can provide many indications for identifying the diagnostic and therapeutic gaps in NP-BTcP management.</p> <p> </p>
Data from: Multidimensional stable isotope analysis illuminates resource partitioning in a sub-Antarctic island bird community
1. A central theme in community ecology is understanding how similar species co-exist and how their interactions may evolve in the context of climate change. Most studies of resource partitioning among central place foragers, particularly birds, focus on the offspring-rearing period, when they are accessible, but breeding success may be determined earlier and little is known about how such species partition resources at the onset of breeding. 2. We used a non-invasive approach to evaluate resource partitioning in co-existing females at a sub-Antarctic island during their pre-laying periods. 3. Three hypotheses were tested using carbon, nitrogen and oxygen stable isotope ratios measured in shells and membranes of hatched eggs as ecological tracers: 1) resource partitioning by geographic location and trophic level will exist among the 12 bird species and will be enhanced within taxonomic groups; 2) given the absence of strong oxygen gradients in the Southern Ocean we will not detect spatial structuring based on oxygen isotopes, but differences will exist between resident and oceanic species as the former may use meteoric water; 3) capital and income breeder strategies can be differentiated using stable isotopes of egg remains. 4. Two and three dimensional isotopic data showed resource partitioning among species. As predicted, segregation was evident within the four main taxonomic groups: penguins, albatrosses, burrowing petrels and giant petrels. Unexpectedly, oxygen isotopes revealed widespread use of meteoric water among a suite of sub-Antarctic birds. Stable isotopes allowed us to identify females of most species as income breeders at the onset of breeding, with the exception of the two crested penguin females exhibiting a mix of income and capital resources use. 5. Multidimensional isotopic analyses revealed that resource partitioning exists at multiple stages of the annual cycle in ways likely to be important under global change, exhibiting wide potential for ecosystem analysis.

Data for: New insights into multi-component atmospheric wet deposition across China: A multidimensional analysis
<p>Atmospheric wet deposition has attracted much attention because of its removal function of aerosol particles and impact on ecosystem. It is a complex multi-component process due to various pollutants emission sources and reaction processes. However, traditional studies have focused on single components, ignoring the internal relationships and the comprehensive wet deposition level; this has hindered the comprehensive understanding and the assessment of ecological effects of deposition. Here, based on the monitoring of wet deposition across 52 stations during 2013–2018 in China, we used two novel multidimensional methods to investigate multi-component atmospheric wet deposition: network analysis and comprehensive index. Network analysis is a new method that can help us better explore the overall relationship between multiple components. The tighter deposition networks, the stronger relationship between different components, meaning that their source are more similar. We find that with the improvement of human development level and the diversification of energy structure, the deposition relationship networks will become looser. Comprehensive index is a method to realize the fusion of multiple parameters, which can help us explore the comprehensive effect of multi-component atmospheric deposition on ecosystem. We calculated the deposition comprehensive index for different ecological regions and found that it was strongly influenced by human activities (energy consumption, fertilization, and vehicle ownership) and precipitation. The findings presented here provide a new perspective for understanding multi-component atmospheric deposition and potential suggestions for evaluating its comprehensive ecological effects. </p>
