Pompeii - Public Water Fountain 12 and Well

This public water fountain was scanned as part of the 2022 Pompeii Water and Sanitation Project field school run by the University of Missouri. The fountain is situated at VI.1.19 and is made of grey peperino slabs. The relief on the spout stone is no longer visible, but was reportedly of Silenus. Behind the fountain is an old well, with the remains of a water tower against the nort eastern corner. The wall of the well facing the fountain has the remains of a lararium altar - when the fountain was originally discovered, a fresco of lares was still visible. The wells predate the fountains and were the original source of water before the aqueduct and fountains were built. More photos can be seen here: https://pompeiiinpictures.com/pompeiiinpictures/Fountains/Fountain%2060119.htm The model was generated in Agisoft Metashape from 541 photos taken using a Nikon Z5. Pompeii - VI.6.1 Casa di Pansa - Latrine (R. 17)

The remains of this latrine were scanned as part of the 2022 Pompeii Water and Sanitation Project field school run by the University of Missouri. This is a textbook version of an ideal Pompeii style latrine, down a small hallway in the kitchen of the House of Pansa. A raised tile floor slopes down to a drain in the corner, while two pedestals would have functioned as supports for a wooden seat, now missing. The sloping floor would have allowed a bucket of water to be used to "flush" the contents of the latrine down the drain. More pictures of the latrine and of the house it's part of can be seen here: https://pompeiiinpictures.com/pompeiiinpictures/Fountains/Fountain%2080701.htm The model was generated in Agisoft Metashape from 250 photos taken using a Nikon Z5. Photo alignment was run on high, as was model generation - model has been decimated for export, and made manifold for 3D printing. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Pompeii - V.1.7 - Peristlye Fountain

This large fountain covers the entire back wall of the Casa del Torello di Bronzo (V.1.7). They were scanned as part of the 2022 Pompeii Water and Sanitation Project field school run by the University of Missouri. The fountain is divided in to three alcoves, with extensive traces of plaster including plaster painted to look like marble. There are mosaic panels in front. Water would have cascaded down from each alcove, but also shot out from small jets set around the wall of the basin. On the left side of the fountain there is a junction box with valves for controlling the water. More information and photos can be seen on Pompeii in Pictures, here: https://www.pompeiiinpictures.com/pompeiiinpictures/R5/5%2001%2007.htm The model was generated in Agisoft Metashape from 417 photos taken using a Nikon Z5. Pompeii - IX.5.9 Casa dei Pygmeii - Room 8

This is a quick scan of the surviving frescoes in Room 8 of the Casa dei Pygmeii in Pompeii. It features various nilotic scenes with pygmies doing a variety of activities, architecture, and various nilotic fauna like a hippopotamus and crocodiles. I particularly like the crocodile on the column! You can read more about this house on Pompeii in Pictures, here: http://pompeiiinpictures.com/pompeiiinpictures/R9/9%2005%2009%20p2.htm Scan generated in Agisoft Metashape using 226 photos taken with an iPhone SE. The fountain is situated on Via Stabiana in front of I.4.15 and is made of grey peperino slabs. The remains of a water tower made out of squared blocks of yellow tuff, which would have provided water to the fountains, are beside it. The relief on the spout stone is of a comedy mask. Augustan Altar, Pompeii

3D model of the altar in the temple precinct adjoining the Eumachia building in the Forum of Pompeii. The model is based on Plate LXVI in Kurt Wallat's Die Ostseite des Forums von Pompeji (Peter Lang, 1997). P.S. it is a first attempt, and there are a couple of inaccuracies in the model. Pompeii - VI.8.23 - Mosaic Fountain

This mosaic fountain is built up against the back wall of a small, lavishly painted, peristyle in the Casa Della Fontana Piccola (VI.8.23). It was scanned as part of the 2022 Pompeii Water and Sanitation Project field school run by the University of Missouri. The facade of the fountain is covered in lavish mosaics bordered by seashells, with a small pool in front. In the pool is a pedestal; on the right a bronze statue of a seated man, and on the left the remains of a small marble statue. The house nextdoor (VI.8.22) is the house of the Fontana Grande, with a slightly larger fountain (Very creative naming!). Odeon at Pompeii

Another test of the found video to model workflow. Used regard3d to stitch the stills together. Not having the original camera, I assumed a gopro and used http://www.kolor.com/wiki-en/action/view/Autopano_Video_-_Focal_length_and_field_of_view for details on focal length etc. This is the model straight out of the workflow. There are some bits and blobs floating around that one would delete with eg meshlab. Source video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IL3ilHMrwg Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
