BreXLiMe: A Semantically Enriched Dataset With News Articles, Micro-Posts, and TV Shows Related to the Brexit

We provide a large data set of media content metadata from various media sources (including online news sites, social media, and live-TV) in three languages (English, German, and Spanish). Overall, the data set contains rich metadata for about 240 thousand news articles, 12 million micro-posts, and 900 TV shows. All media content information has been semantically enriched with annotations of both entities and categories from DBpedia.

The data can be used as a valuable data basis for applications and studies of various disciplines (e.g., social studies, political science, and humanities) on the case of Brexit, particularly on the media landscape before the Brexit referendum held on June 23, 2016.

We provide the data set in the RDF serialization format Turtle (.ttl) as well as in XML.

If you use our data set, please cite it as follows:

Lei Zhang, Maribel Acosta, Michael Färber, Steffen Thoma and Achim Rettinger. Semantic Enrichment of the Laboratory Data Dictionary of the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP-START-4) with LOINC; Detailed Mapping Results

Unlike West Germany, high morbidity and mortality have been observed in East Germany over the last century. The regional population-based Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) therefore investigates the long-term progression of sub-clinical findings, their determinants and prognostic values, to acquire knowledge that facilitates early diagnosis and thus helps prevent the progression of disease. The SHIP covers various areas of patient health. Each SHIP data set is accompanied by a data dictionary (DD) which provides descriptions of variables and definitions.

This work shows the detailed mapping results of the semantic enrichment of the SHIP-START-4 medical laboratory data dictionary with LOINC codes. This work also provides detailed descriptions of the concepts applied in the semnatic enrichment. The results of this work serve as a critical step towards improving its interoperability and hence FAIRness for the SHIP laboratory-related measurements.

Collaborative annotation and semantic enrichment of 3D media: Demo of a new FOSS toolchain

A suite of tools for collaborative annotation and semantic enrichment of 3D cultural artefacts is being developed as part of the NFDI4Culture project across several partner organisations (led by the Open Science Lab at TIB, Hannover). Operating within Task area 1: Data capture and enrichment, the proposed toolchain focuses on the annotation of 3D data within an open knowledge graph environment, so that 3D objects’ metadata and related annotations can be linked to various resources, part of the semantic web and all data is searchable via a public SPARQL endpoint.

This short video presents the core steps in the media file upload and annotation workflow facilitated by the toolchain.
