Northern Africa, Central and Western Asia Hub

Izmir Cancer Registry, the first population-based cancer registry in Turkey, became the second IARC Regional Hub for Cancer Registration within the GICR programme in October 2013. The Hub aims to build capacity for cancer registration in low- and middle-income countries within Northern Africa, Central and Western Asia.The Hub covers 29 countries and territories: Northern Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, and Tunisia); Central Asia and Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan); and Western Asia (Bahrain, Cyprus, West Bank and Gaza Strip, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syrian Arab Republic , Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen). The cases reported here are under the age of 44.
