SBF-SEM of the Trichuris muris Stichosome
<p>This image stack is a Serial Blockface Scanning Electron Microscopy (SBF-SEM) acquisition of the <em>Trichuris muris</em> stichosome. Structures of interest included within the data are the stichosome, bacillary pores and cells, sensory neurons and cuticular inflations.</p> <p>The worm was taken from a mouse host (Severe Combined Immunodeficient on a BALB/c background), and sample preparation was carried out according to Deerinck et al. (2010).</p> <p>Imaging was carried out on a Quanta 250 FEG (Thermo Fisher Scientific, Massachusetts), with the blockface recorded at 3.8kV, spot size 3.5 and pressure of 0.4Torr. Pixel size of the lateral plain was 12 nm.
