Docosahexaenoic acid protects against palmitate-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in diabetic cardiomyopathy

The effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on fatty acid-induced cardiomyopathy were evaluated in palmitic acid (PA)-induced cytotoxicity in rat primary cardiomyoblasts in vitro; DHA reduced the occurrence of cardiomyopathy and improved cardiac responses to PA; DHA reduced mitochondrial oxidative stress and ameliorated PA-induced lipid toxicity.
