Fortified Village-Cabezo de la Fuente del Murtal

Cabezo de la Fuente del Murtal (Alhama de Murcia, Spain) is a fortification of the 1st Iron Age. This structure features powerful bastions and a solid wall. Located west of the Rambla de Algeciras, its location allows for visual control over the surrounding territory, and the Guadalentín river basin. The defensive system of this fortified village exhibits the importance of planning and high level of construction skill. Currently, researchers, Benjamin Cutillas from the University of Murcia and Pepe Baños from the council town of Alhama, are continuing excavations and investigations at the site.
