Box iron and slug - free download
Model made in Zbrush and textures added in Substance Painter. This type of iron would have been in use in the 1890s - for ironing clothes. The iron slug was heated on a fire or on a kitchen range before being placed into the cavity in the iron - the trap door slides upwards and can then be closed again afterwards. Click this link for more information on this type of iron https://www.objectlessons.org/houses-and-homes-victorians/box-iron--slug-victorian-original/s59/a962/ I decided to model this after seeing a Time Team YouTube video presented by Dani Wootton featuring an iron slug found in 2021 by a metal detectorist during a dig in Cornwall - Boden Fogou. I am a great fan of Time Team and a supporter of the current YouTube channel via Patreon. You are free to use this model in any way. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
