Green Gates 03 (July 2012)

Possible prehistoric carving found in the Green Gates / Grainings Head area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire. This small, wedge-shaped stone is thought to be reference IAG254 in Boughey & Vickerman's 2003 publication, 'Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding', where they describe: 'Small rock. Cups and lines on S vertical face, possibly natural.' The CSI: Rombalds Moor project referenced the carving 'Green Gates 03' on ERA in 2013. They provide a more in depth description of the motifs. Whether the cups are artificial or natural is difficult to determine due to the lichen coverage.
