Field measurement data for the mangroves bordering the lagoons of La Mancha and El Llano, Mexico
<p><span>Between</span><span> 27 June </span><span>and</span><span> 13 July 2022, a </span><span>total</span><span> </span><span>of</span><span> 11 </span><span>f</span><span>ield plot</span><span>s were investigated, where</span><span> </span><span>six</span><span> plots were located at </span><span>El Llano</span><span> lagoon, and </span><span>five</span><span> at </span><span>La Mancha</span><span> lagoon. </span><span>Plot </span><span>size</span><span> </span><span>varied in relation to stand density. In the </span><span>l</span><span>agoon of </span><span>El</span><span> </span><span>L</span><span>lan</span><span>o,</span><span> </span><span>three</span><span> plots of 10 × </span><span>1</span><span>0 m</span><span> </span><span>were delimited in the west of the lagoon and </span><span>three plots of the same size</span><span> on the east, neighbouring a system </span><span>o</span><span>f stabilized dunes. </span><span>In La Mancha</span><span> lagoon</span><span>, </span><span>two</span><span> plots of </span><span>1</span><span>0 × </span><span>1</span><span>0 m</span><span> and two 15</span><span> × </span><span>15</span><span> m</span><span> subplots of 30</span><span> × </span><span>30</span><span> m</span><span> permanent plots located in the north, and one plot of 2</span><span>0 × </span><span>2</span><span>0 m</span><span> </span><span>for large <em>R. mangle</em> trees</span><span> were sampled in the southeast of the lagoon. </span><span>Species id, stem diameter (cm) at 1.3 m from ground surface, and tree height (m) were recorded within each plot</span><span>. Additionally,</span><span> trunk diameter at lowest living branch, canopy width and length in the case of shrubs or young trees, and diameter above the highest prop root in the case of <em>R. mangle </em>were also recorded.</span></p>
