Micro-tomographic images of a flask-shaped microfossil specimen from the Lower Devonian of China
<p>Our samples were prepared using palynological technique to extract specimens from rocks. After hydrochloric-hydrofluoric (HCL-HF) acid maceration and water rinsing to neutralization, organic residues were sieved with nylon mesh (10 μm mesh openings) to remove small impurities. Specimens were examined under a binocular stereo microscope for further microfossil analyses. A total of 16 specimens with typically flask-shaped forms were obtained and then photographed with the Tescan MAIA3 scanning electron microscope. We picked one specimen to take X-ray micro-tomography by using the Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa tomographic microscope. Image data were processed by the VGStudioMax 3.0. This dataset includes the raw micro-tomography images.</p>
