This bionomic depth zonation illustrates the situation on flat muddy bottoms in areas with very clear waters, like in the oligotrophic (eastern) Mediterranean Sea. The distribution of bryozoan growth-form assemblages (in average number of fragments per sample) and the average number of species in each assemblage is indicated in a grey circle (partly inspired from Moissette 2000).
