Gewandhaus repertoire levels for composers and works 1800–1895

These datasets contain lists of composers and works that were part of the Leipzig Gewandhausorchestra's repertoire in the years 1800–1895. They have been ascribed to 5 different repertoire levels (core, 1, 2, 3, 4) on account of their appearance during each season. To gain comparability the evaluation period has been split up into two segments, before and after 1848.

For instance: Beethoven's Eroica has been played in each season in the second half, therefore it is assigned the count "47".

core (K): 43–47 (90–100 %)
1: 33–42 (70–89 %)
2: 19–32 (40–69 %)
3: 6–18 (13–39 %)
4: 1–5 (1–11 %)

This dataset is used in the dissertation "Repertoire and canon", <https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:bsz:15-qucosa2-810514>.
