The Pen-tailed Treeshrew occurs also on Serasan (South Natuna Is), Sumatra and several associated islands such as Pini and Tanahbala (Batu Is), Siberut (Mentawai Is), Kundur (Riau Is), Lingga, and Bangka, but subspecies involved are not known. in Ptilocercidae
