Weaving the Penelope Fabric. Part II: Double Weave

A famous vase from Chiusi depicts Penelope in front of a patterned fabric. The video demonstrates how such a fabric could have been woven on a warp-weighted loom and presents the technique of patterned double-weave combined with a tablet-woven starting border extended to the sides of the fabric. The footage stems from 2009 when Ellen Harlizius-Klück prepared the loom for the 140 years anniversary of the Museum for Plaster Casts of Classical Sculptures Munich.
