In this example, legs IV accelerated the spider to ~55 cm/s, then to ~70 cm/s, and extension of legs III brought this up to ~80 cm/s. Since vertical deceleration due to gravity takes place as the spider is accelerating, the actual acceleration due to vertical extension of the legs is somewhat greater than this.
