Olethreutes is part of a very large tortricid subfamily (Olethreutinae) with many small, hightly, ornamented species, very few of which come close to displaying any features of the hypothetical salticid archetype (Figure 29). Extra "eyes" of O. arcuella may induce a supernormal response by salticids.
