Islamic jar fragment, Calatrava la Vieja, Spain
Stamped jar fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2009 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar. As usual during the almohad period in al-Andalus for these kind of vessels, this container was decorated with printed stamps, in this case with geometric motifs. Catalog No. 09 26 872 1.
