The sequence generated in this study is shown in bold and groups together with a parasite known to infect oysters in New Zealand. This novel clade does not show any phylogenetic affinity to the known clades of apicomplexans infecting marine and terrestrial animals and is placed at the base of the tree next to the Chrompodellids.
