Size 81/4 in. by 6 in.; foll. 107. Twenty-two lines in a page.</p> <p>Glosses to <em>Ṭ&ucirc;s&icirc;&rsquo;s </em>Commentary on the Physics of الاشارات, and to the corresponding portion of <em>Taḥt&acirc;n&icirc;&rsquo;s </em>المحاکمات, by Ḥab&icirc;b Allah M&Icirc;RZ&Acirc; J&Acirc;N B&acirc;ghand&icirc;1 (<em>alias </em>Sh&icirc;r&acirc;z&icirc;, d. A.H. 994). See Ḥ. Kh. i. 303, and Cat. Mus. Brit. 627.2</p> <p>These glosses are dedicated to the Ṣafaw&icirc; Sh&acirc;h Ism&acirc;&rsquo;&icirc;l II. (السلطان بن السلطان بن السلطان ابو المظفر شاه اسمعیل الحسینی الصفوی بهادر خان), who reigned from A.H. 983 to 985. Though, in the preface, Ṭ&ucirc;s&icirc;&rsquo;s commentary and المحاکمات, or شرح الشرح, are spoken of in equal terms, the glosses refer only to the latter work, with the words قوله المح (<em>i.e.</em> المُحاکِم).</p> <p>In the preface allusion is made to the names of the author and the commentators, and their respective works, as follows:</p> <p>الحمدلله الذی شفی علیل الحکمة باشارات فائقة، وروی غلیل العلم و المعرفة بتنبیهات رائقة...و الصلوة و السلام علی رئیس الامّة و نصیرهم یوم الغُمّة، فخر الانبیاء المرسلین، حبیب رب العالمین، اعنی مُحاکِم محکمة العدالة، و قطب فلک الرسالة الخ.</p> <p>The first gloss begins: قوله المح بل یکفی فی اثباته اما مجرد ملاحظة تصوراته او النظرالسابق اقول لا یذهب علی من تتبع فصول الکتاب الخ.</p> <p>Closely written in Nasta&rsquo;liḳ, with notes by the author.</p> <p>The title-page, which is covered with various notes, bears the seal of a &ldquo;servant&rdquo; of Muḥammad Sh&acirc;h.</p> <p>[College of Fort William, 1825.]</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>1 This MS. Has الباغنوی. See however, Cat. Lugd. iii. 323.</p> <p>2 In the latter it is, however, taken for Taḥt&acirc;n&icirc;&rsquo;s commentary</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
