FIGURE 14 in Bathyconchoeciinae, a new subfamily of deep oceanic planktonic halocyprid Ostracod (Myodocopa, Ostracoda)

FIGURE 14. Comparisions of the copulatory appendages in a selection of Euconchoecia and Bathyconchoecia species: A. Euconchoecia aff. pacifica, original drawing, East China Sea. B. Euconchoecia aff. elongata, original drawing, Celebes Sea. C. Euconchoecia aff. aculeate, original drawing, Japan Sea. D. Scottoecia darcythompsoni, from Angel 2012, Fig. 5J. E. Bathyconchoecia sagittarius, from Deevey 1968 Fig.10c. F. Bathyconchoecia n. sp. original drawing, Southern Ocean sp.'L'. G. Bathyconchoecia n. sp. original drawing, Southern Ocean sp.'B'. Scales are in millimetres. The main differences are: 1. Euconchoecia have several oblique muscles in the main body of the appendage, Bathyconchoecia have few if any oblique muscles in the body of the appendage; 2. The appendages are characteristically paddle-shaped in Euconchoecia, but the shapes vary extensively between the different Bathyconchoecia species.
