Another view of Bashford Dean, who planned and installed a collection of armor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met's collection of arms and armor was founded partly on Dean's private collection). During World War I, Major Dean served (1917–1918) in the U.S. Ordnance Service and was engaged in developing improved helmets and other special body armor. He also was a specialist on armored fish.
