Grain Boundary Motion in eGaIn-Zinc Embrittlement

Timelapse of grain boundary motion in a region of a zinc specimen in which the grain boundaries have been wetted by eutectic gallium indium (eGaIn). The dark gray phase is the solid zinc crystals, bright phase is indium precipitates formed by indium being rejected from the liquid phase, and the intermediate phase is molten eGaIn filling the prior grain boundaries.
