(Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</strong></a> <strong>number 104 here with notations and hyperlinks].</strong></li> </ul> <p>1176</p> <p>Miftâḥ-i-Gulistân (مفتاح گلستان).</p> <p>Short commentary on and glossary to Sa’dî’s Gulistân, composed by Uwais bin ‘Alâ-aldîn, known as Âdam, a pupil of Khwâjah Abû-alfaiḍ Abû-alfaḍl Amîr-aldîn Shâh Ni’mat-allâh Muḥammad bin Muḥammad al-Ḥasanî, and dedicated to the Bahmanî Sulṭân of the Dakhan, Maḥmûdshâh bin Muḥammadshâh (who reigned A.H. 887-924=A.D. 1482-1518, see above , No. 449).</p> <p>According to the last words in No. 3338 (1179 in this Cat.), the work was completed by the author on the day عاشور, i.e. the 10th of Muḥarram, A.H. 900 (A.D.1494, Oct. 11). It is divided into two ḳisms, the <em>first</em> <em>ḳism</em> being a glossary, <em>arranged</em> alphabetically, of the difficult words (قسم اوّل مبوّب از حروف مقطّعات در بيان لغات), the last letter constituting the bâb, the first the faṣl or subdivision; the <em>second</em> <em>ḳism</em> containing an explanation of difficult phrases, verses of the Ḳurân, traditions and sayings of Shaikhs, Arabic baits and invocations of God, etc., which occur in the Gulistân (قسم دوم در تفسير و معانئ آيات و كلام قدسى و احاديث و اقوال و اُدعيّات و اشعار تازى كه در كتاب گلستان مذكور است.)</p> <p>Beginning:فاتحه مر فتّاحى را كه افتتاح كلام خود بفاتحة الكتاب مخصوص گردانيد الخ .</p> <p><em>First</em> <em>ḳism, </em>on fol. 6<sup>b</sup>; second <em>ḳism, </em>on fol. 57<sup>b</sup>.</p> <p>The copy ends on fol. 69<sup>b</sup>, and is dated the 6th of Sha’bân, A.H. 1052 (A.D. 1642, Oct. 30).
