(Oxford: India Office, 1903): volume 1,</a> number 138 here with notations and hyperlinks].</li> </ul> 1284 Khamsa-i-Jamâliyyah (خمسۀ جماليّه). Five mathnawîs, in imitation of the five famous poems of Niżâmî, composed by a poet with the takhalluṣ Jamâlî, who is not mentioned anywhere (his fuller title given in the frontispiece of the first poem is (حضرة الجماليّه الاحمديّه. He flourished at the end of Tîmûr’s reign, and under his first successors. The five poems of this khamsah are: 1.تحفة الابرار, in twenty maḳâlas, an imitation of the Makhzan-alasrâr, on fol. 1b, beginning: بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم – هست سرآغاز كتاب كريم 2.مهر و نگار, an imitation of Khusrau and Shîrîn, on fol. 29b, beginning: بفضل بى كران يا ذى المعالى در توحید بگشا برجمالی Composed A.H. 805 (A.D. 1402, 1403), see fol. 85b, l. 14. 3.محزون و محبوب, an imitation of Lailâ and Majnûn, on fol. 86b, beginning: اى ذات ترا بدايتى نى – اوصاف ترا نهايتى نى Composed A.H. 814 (A.D. 1411, 1412), see fol. 132a, l. 20. 4.هفت اورنگ, an imitation of the Haft Paikar, on fol. 132b, beginning: اى جهان جمله آفريدۀ تو – سقف افلاک بر کشیدۀ تو Composed A.H. 820 (A.D. 1417), see fol. 178b, last line but one. 5.Another mathnawî, incomplete at the end; he title of this last poem cannot be made out, as no headings are found, and the only place in which the author himself enumerates his mathnawîs, viz. fol. 134a, ll. 10, 11, occurs already in the beginning of the هفت اورنگ, that is in the fourth poem. Beginning of this mathnawî, on fol. 179b: الهى ز مه تا بماهی تراست همه بندگانیم و شاهی تراست No doubt it is an imitation of the Iskandarnâma. Many leaves are a little injured; the last page is very severely damaged. The second mathnawî is dated the 8th of Ramadân, A.H. 869 (A.D. 1465, May 4), the third in the month Muḥarram, A.H. 870 (A.D. 1465, Aug.-Sept.). We learn from the colophons of both, that this copy was made in Baghdâd. No. 138, ff. 210, 4 coll., each ll. 25; Nasta’lîḳ; illuminated frontispiece at the beginning of each poem; pictures on ff. 14a, 24a, 75a, 101b, 125b, and 205a; size, 123/8 in. by 77/8 in.
