Lake landscape survey (WI): Wisconsin DNR, 2000

The Wisconsin Lake Landscape (LKLS) Survey included 121 lakes sampled during the summer of 2000. The purpose of the survey was to compare relationships between landuse/land cover (LULC) quantified at different spatial extents and trophic status (TP, N, DOC, chlorophyll, etc) among seepage, headwater and drainage lakes (of shallow and deep depths) in three contrasting regions of Wisconsin (agricultural-dominated SE; forested NC and mixed WE). Lakes were sampled in mid-summer by boat/canoe or floatplane. Samples for chlorophyll and chemical analyses were collected through the epilimnion with an integrated tube sampler. Except for DOC, most of which was analyzed by the Institute for Ecosystem Studies (IES), chemical analyses were done by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.
