DAWN GRAND MAP CERES HYDROGEN MAP V1.0

A global map of the concentration of hydrogen within the regolith of asteroid 1 Ceres on twenty-degree quasi-equal-area pixels is provided. Hydrogen concentrations were determined from thermal+epithermal neutron counting data acquired by the NASA Dawn mission's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector (GRaND) while in low altitude mapping orbit, about 385 km from Ceres' surface (about 0.8 body radii altitude). The concentrations are representative of Ceres's bulk regolith to depths up to a few decimeters with a spatial resolution of about 600-km full-width-at-half-maximum of arc length on the surface. The methods used to determine hydrogen concentration are described by PRETTYMANETAL2017.

DAWN GRAND MAP CERES TPE NEUTRON COUNTS V1.0

A global map thermal+epithermal neutron counting rates binned on twenty-degree quasi-equal-area pixels is provided. The map was determined from a time series of the rate of neutron capture by lithium in the lithium-loaded glass scintillator, part of the +Z phoswich sensor on Dawn's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector (GRaND). Neutrons in the thermal and epithermal energy range contribute to the reaction. The data were acquired while in low altitude mapping orbit, about 385 km from Ceres' surface (about 0.8 body radii altitude). Prior to mapping, the time series counting data were subjected to corrections for variations in the flux of galactic cosmic rays and measurement geometry, as described by PRETTYMANETAL2017.

DAWN GRAND MAP VESTA HYDROGEN ABUNDANCE V1.0

A global map of the abundance of hydrogen in micrograms/g within the regolith of asteroid 4 Vesta is provided for two-degree equal-angle pixels. Hydrogen abundances were determined from epithermal neutron counting data acquired by the NASA Dawn mission's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector (GRaND) while in low altitude mapping orbit, about 210 km from Vesta's surface. The abundances are representative of Vesta's bulk regolith composition to depths of a few decimeters with a spatial resolution of about 300-km full-width-at-half-maximum of arc length on the surface. The methods used to determine hydrogen abunance are described by PRETTYMANETAL2012.

DAWN GRAND RAW (EDR) VESTA COUNTS V1.0

The GRaND EDR are a time-ordered collection of gamma ray and neutron counting data and histograms acquired by GRaND during all phases of the Dawn mission. The dataset includes state-of-health data, such as temperature and voltage readings, needed for the analysis of the counting data. The EDR is an intermediate data product derived from the raw data records using reversible operations. All higher order data products are derived from the EDR. An automated pipeline is used to process the EDR from the raw data records.

DAWN GRAND MAP VESTA NEUTRON ABSORPTION V1.0

A global map of a unitless compositional parameter, delta-C_perpendicular (DCP), and propagated 1-sigma uncertainties is provided. DCP varies linearly with the macroscopic thermal neutron absorption cross section of Vesta's regolith. An equation for converting tabulated DCP values to absorption units is provided in this document. DCP was determined from thermal and epithermal neutron counting rates measured by the NASA Dawn mission's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector (GRaND) while in low altitude mapping orbit, about 210 km from Vesta's surface. The measurements are representative of Vesta's bulk regolith composition to depths of a few decimeters with a spatial resolution of about 300-km full-width-at-half-maximum of arc length on the surface. The methods used to determine neutron absorption are described by PRETTYMANETAL2013.

DAWN GRAND MAP VESTA GAMMA FE CORRECTED COUNTS V1.0

This data set provides tables of net counting rates of Fe gamma rays at 7.6 MeV measured by the BGO detector of Dawn's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector acquired at the low altitude mapping orbit. The counting rates were normalized for variations of live time, solid angle of Vesta, and galactic cosmic ray intensity. They were also corrected for variations of neutron number density derived from thermal and epithermal neutron observations by GRaND (PRETTYMANETAL2013). The table contains the original Fe counting rates reported by YAMASHITAETAL2013.

DAWN FC2 CALIBRATION IMAGES V1.0

Abstract ======== Framing Camera 2 is one of two identical units flying on Dawn spacecraft. This dataset includes the image files to be used in the calibration of the raw data throughout the mission. These files represent the behaviour of each individual pixel with respect to dark current generation and pixel-to-pixel non-uniformity as a function of the filter. As these are elaborated image products, not obtained from a specific image acquisition, they do not have any ancillary data.
