A Dataset of Eye Movements for the Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
<p>Dataset of eye movements of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It consists of 300 natural scene images and the corresponding eye movement data collected from 14 children with ASD and 14 healthy controls. In particular, fixation maps and scanpaths are available in the dataset. Based on this dataset, researchers could analyze the visual traits of children with ASD and design specialized visual attention models to promote research in related fields, as well as design specialized models to identify the individuals with ASD.</p>

Supplemental Materials Eikelboom et al. Neuropsychiatric and cognitive symptoms across the Alzheimer's disease clinical spectrum
<p>The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence and trajectories of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) in relation to cognitive functioning in a cohort of amyloid-<em>β</em> positive individuals across the Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical spectrum. In this single-center observational study, we included all individuals who visited the Alzheimer Center Amsterdam and had 1) a clinical diagnosis of subjective cognitive decline (SCD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), or probable AD dementia, and 2) were amyloid-<em>β</em> positive (A+). We measured NPS with the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), examining total scores and the presence of specific NPI domains. Cognition was assessed across five cognitive domains and with the MMSE. We examined trajectories including model based trends for NPS and cognitive functioning over time. We used linear mixed models to relate baseline NPI scores to cognitive functioning at baseline (whole-sample) and longitudinal time-points (subsample n=520, Mean=1.8 [SD=0.7] years follow-up). We included 1,524 amyloid-β positive individuals from the Amsterdam Dementia Cohort with A+ SCD (n=113), A+ MCI (n=321), or A+ AD dementia (n=1,090). NPS were prevalent across all clinical AD stages (≥1 NPS 81.4% in SCD, 81.2% in MCI, 88.7% in dementia; ≥1 clinically relevant NPS 54.0% in SCD, 50.5% in MCI, 66.0% in dementia). Cognitive functioning showed an uniform gradual decline; while in contrast, large intra-individual heterogeneity of NPS was observed over time across all AD groups. At baseline, we found associations between NPS and cognition in dementia that were most pronounced for NPI total scores and MMSE (range <em>β</em>=0.18 to 0.11, FDR-adjusted <em>p</em><0.05), while there were no cross-sectional relationships in SCD and MCI (range <em>β</em>=-0.32 to 0.36, all FDR-adjusted <em>p</em>>0.05). There were no associations between baseline NPS and cognitive functioning over time in any clinical stage (range <em>β</em>=-0.13 to 0.44, all FDR-adjusted <em>p</em>>0.05). NPS and cognitive symptoms are both prevalent across the AD continuum, but show a different evolution during the course of the disease.</p>
Pedigree-based and phylogenetic methods support surprising patterns of mutation rate and spectrum in the gray mouse lemur
<p>Mutations are the raw material on which evolution acts, and knowledge of their frequency and genomic distribution is crucial for understanding how evolution operates at both long and short timescales. At present, the rate and spectrum of <i>de novo</i> mutations have been directly characterized in relatively few lineages. Our study provides the first direct mutation rate estimate for a strepsirrhine (i.e., the lemurs and lorises), which comprise nearly half of the primate clade. Using high-coverage linked-read sequencing for a focal quartet of gray mouse lemurs (<i>Microcebus</i> <i>murinus</i>), we estimated the mutation rate to be 1.52 × 10<sup>–8</sup> (95% credible interval: 1.28 × 10<sup>−8</sup> to 1.78 × 10<sup>−8</sup>) mutations/site/generation, a rate among the highest calculated for a mammal. Further, we found an unexpectedly low count of paternal mutations, and only a modest overrepresentation of mutations at CpG-sites. Despite the surprising nature of these results, we found both the rate and spectrum to be robust to the manipulation of a wide range of computational filtering criteria. We also sequenced a technical replicate to estimate a false negative and false positive rate for our data and show that any point estimate of a <i>de novo </i>mutation rate should be considered with a large degree of uncertainty. To validate these observations, we conducted an independent analysis of context-dependent substitution types for gray mouse lemur and five additional primate species for which <i>de novo</i> mutation rates have also been estimated. These comparisons revealed general consistency of the mutation spectrum between the pedigree-based and the substitution rate analyses for all species compared.</p>

Incorporating pressure-volume traits into the leaf economics spectrum
<p>Dataset associated with the article '<em>Incorporating pressure-volume traits into the leaf economics spectrum</em>' (Nadal et al. 2023 [<em>Eco Lett</em>, accepted]). We provide theoretical and empirical evidence for the coordination of the turgor loss point and associated pressure-volume traits (osmotic potential at full turgor, leaf capacitance, leaf elasticity, leaf saturated water content, modulus of elasticity) with photosynthesis (light-saturated net CO<sub>2</sub> assimilation) and leaf mass per area (LMA) and its two components (leaf thickness and density). The complete dataset comprehends a total of 45 data entries from 37 species, including ferns and angiosperms (woody and herbaceous species), most of them measured on the campus of University of the Balearic Islands; this complements the data presented in Nadal et al. (2018 [<em>Eco Lett</em> 21 (9), 1372-1379]). For the 20 species from Nadal et al. (2018), we also provide data regarding their N and C content, leaf anatomy (from optical and TEM images) and cell wall composition.</p>
