Data supporting "Constructing Emergent U(1) Symmetries in the Gamma-Prime (Γ′) model"

Frustrated magnets can elude the paradigm of conventional symmetry breaking and instead exhibit signatures
of emergent symmetries at low temperatures. Such symmetries arise from “accidental” degeneracies within the
ground state manifold and have been explored in a number of disparate models, in both two and three dimen-
sions. Here we report the systematic construction of a family of classical spin models that, for a wide variety
of lattice geometries with triangular motifs in one, two and three spatial dimensions, such as the kagome or hy-
perkagome lattices, exhibit an emergent, continuous U(1) symmetry. This is particularly surprising because the
underlying Hamiltonian actually has very little symmetry — a bond-directional, off-diagonal exchange model
inspired by the microscopics of spin-orbit entangled materials (the Γ′-model). The construction thus allows
for a systematic study of the interplay between the emergent continuous U(1) symmetry and the underlying
discrete Hamiltonian symmetries in different lattices across different spatial dimensions. We discuss the impact
of thermal and quantum fluctuations in lifting the accidental ground state degeneracy via the thermal and quan-
tum order-by-disorder mechanisms, and how spatial dimensionality and lattice symmetries play a crucial role
in shaping the physics of the model. Complementary Monte Carlo simulations, for representative one-, two-,
and three-dimensional lattice geometries, provide a complete account of the thermodynamics and confirm our
analytical expectations.

Data from: Topological materials discovery by large-order symmetry indicators

Crystalline symmetries play an important role in the classification of band structures, and their richness leads to various topological crystalline phases. On the basis of our recently developed method for the efficient discovery of topological materials using symmetry indicators, we explore topological materials in five space groups, which are diagnosed by large-order symmetry indicators and support the coexistence of several kinds of gapless boundary states in a single compound. We predict many candidate materials; some representatives include Pt3Ge, graphite, XPt3, Au4Ti, and Ti2Sn. As by-products, we also find that AgXF3 and AgAsX are good Dirac semimetals with clean Fermi surfaces. The proposed materials provide a good platform for studying the novel properties emerging from the interplay between different types of boundary states.

Data from: Symmetry-breaking phase transitions in highly concentrated semen

New experimental evidence of self-motion of a confined active suspension is presented. Depositing fresh semen sample in an annular shaped microfluidic chip leads to a spontaneous vortex state of the fluid at sufficiently large sperm concentration. The rotation occurs unpredictably clockwise or counterclockwise and is robust and stable. Furthermore, for highly active and concentrated semen, richer dynamics can occur such as self-sustained or damped rotation oscillations. Experimental results obtained with systematic dilution provide a clear evidence of a phase transition towards collective motion associated with local alignment of spermatozoa akin to the Vicsek model. A macroscopic theory based on previously derived self-organized hydrodynamics models is adapted to this context and provides predictions consistent with the observed stationary motion.

Bakemyscan 1.0.2 - Quadrilaterals & Symmetry

**BakeMyScan 1.0.2 is out**, and I just created [this blenderartists.org thread](https://blenderartists.org/t/bakemyscan-free-and-opensource-remeshing-retopology-texturing-baking-addon/1133347/19), where I've "announced" it for the first time on a blender-related forum. So I hope I'll have some constructive feedback! Short videos showcasing the symmetry and relaxation features (sorry for the poor quality!): https://youtu.be/0oABsI2rVaw https://youtu.be/ue08a__gDDo Enjoy, and make sure to [Follow me on Twitter](https://twitter.com/norgeotloic) for future updates ! *I'm taking this night-time project of mine way too seriously right now, and am currently trying to improve my development skills by creating a full ecosystem for this project. But everything is far from being mature, so please forgive the unpolishness ;)* Original model (42k tris): [Ganesh Metal Statuette 3DScan](https://skfb.ly/6y9Hq) from @scanboxyz , licensed under **CC-Attribution Share-Alike** Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
