Mamai Gora - Neolithic burial No. 2
This burial is the part of huge Neolithic complex of more than 100 objects found during the summer 2020 in Zaporizhzhya region, Ukraine. 97 of them are skeletons lying in the shallow pit near one another. They have been discoveried and studied by the archaeological team of Zaporizhzhya National University. The complex is preliminary dated back tp 6 millenia BC. Further researches is yet to come, though even now it is a unique amount of awesome data on the Neolithic of the Ukrainian Steppe. Hope the future results will be informative! Watch-house and Burial Aisle, Banchory, Scotland
The 3 D model shows the watch-house in the graveyard of the Banchory-Ternan Parish church, Banchory, Scotland. It is a circular, two-storey building of rubble and slate with a conical roof incorporating a bell tower. The date 1829 is cut on the stone above the bell. There is a round hole just beneath the small window through which the custom was to fire a gun occasionally to frightened off would-be body snatchers. A burial aisle, which was erected in 1775 for the Douglasses of Tilquillie, stands in the middle of the burial-ground and incorporates a cross-slab in re-use as a quoin at the SW angle. The slab measures 0.3m in length by 0.92m in breadth and bears the inscribed outline of two crosses, one set above the other; the upper is a Latin cross with rounded armpits and splayed shaft, and the lower is a plain cross. MARBLE CHEST BURIAL INFANT - BRITISH MUSEUM 2020
Marble chest with lid, used for the burial of two infant boys. At each angle of the front there is a flaming candelabrum, resting on dolphins and having a winged Sphinx in the middle of the stem. A pomegranate (?) flower hangs on each side of a tablet with moulded frame, inscribed. On the right side is a wreath of fruit tied with sashes. Two birds are pecking at a lizard, and two are pecking at the wreath. On the left side is a similar wreath. Two birds are feeding their young in a nest, and two birds are pecking at the wreath. The cover is in pediment form, with a shell in the middle of the pediment and a dolphin at each angle. At each side are rosettes (description by Smith 1904, p.348 n.2359).
