Evaluating Cloud Properties at Scott Base: Comparing Ceilometer Observations with ERA5, JRA55, and MERRA2 Reanalyses Using an Instrument Simulator (Pre-review)
<p>Due to its remote location and extreme weather conditions, atmospheric measurements are rare in Antarctica. Partially due to this lack of observational constraints, large biases in the representation of clouds have been identified over Southern hemisphere high latitudes in various grenerations of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) models, numerical weather prediction models and reanalyses. It has been shown in previous studies that ground-based remote sensing measurements of cloud across the region are critical for complementing satellite data sets due to the importance of boundary layer and low-level cloud processes. These processes are poorly sampled by satellite-based measurements which are typically obscured by overlying cloud cover or are prone to ground clutter. Here we provide a dataset which includes CL51 ceilometer observations of low clouds made during the period 14th February 2022 and 31st December 2023 at Scott Base, Antarctica (77.8 S, 166.7 E). Complemeted by ERA5, JRA55 and MERRA2 reanalyses output that has been processed using an instrument simulator. These datasets allow direct comparison between the reanalyses datasets and the ceilometer observations.</p> <p> </p>
HYDROUSA_Financing instruments for Circular water solutions
<p>This dataset is the main results of the investigation conducted within HYDROUSA project regarding the financing instruments for circular solutions similar to the ones implemented within HYDROUSA. These results are detaily described within Deliverable “Funding Opportunities Report” (deliverable D8.3) that addresses numerous accessible opportunities to fund and finance HYDROUSA nature-based water solutions – taking the legislative, governance, regulatory, regional, and institutional complexity into consideration. Deliverable D8.3 provides an exhaustive overview in respect to funding and financing opportunities – to support decisions for the best and safe transferability, replicability, and widespread application of HYDROUSA solutions. In this report, financing and funding programs have been organized in tables ( and the uploaded excel file) to allow a quicker and broader use of the report’s findings. </p> <p> </p>

IRMAS: a dataset for instrument recognition in musical audio signals
<p>This dataset includes musical audio excerpts with annotations of the predominant instrument(s) present. It was used for the evaluation in the following article:</p> <blockquote> <p>Bosch, J. Data from: Performance and agreement of risk stratification instruments for postoperative delirium in persons aged 50 years or older
Several risk stratification instruments for postoperative delirium in older people have been developed because early interventions may prevent delirium. We investigated the performance and agreement of nine commonly used risk stratification instruments in an independent validation cohort of consecutive elective and emergency surgical patients aged ≥50 years with ≥1 risk factor for postoperative delirium. Data was collected prospectively. Delirium was diagnosed according to DSM-IV-TR criteria. The observed incidence of postoperative delirium was calculated per risk score per risk stratification instrument. In addition, the risk stratification instruments were compared in terms of area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), and positive and negative predictive value. Finally, the positive agreement between the risk stratification instruments was calculated. When data required for an exact implementation of the original risk stratification instruments was not available, we used alternative data that was comparable. The study population included 292 patients: 60% men; mean age (SD), 66 (8) years; 90% elective surgery. The incidence of postoperative delirium was 9%. The maximum observed incidence per risk score was 50% (95%CI, 15–85%); for eight risk stratification instruments, the maximum observed incidence per risk score was ≤25%. The AUC (95%CI) for the risk stratification instruments varied between 0.50 (0.36–0.64) and 0.66 (0.48–0.83). No AUC was statistically significant from 0.50 (p≥0.11). Positive predictive values of the risk stratification instruments varied between 0–25%, negative predictive values between 89–95%. Positive agreement varied between 0–66%. No risk stratification instrument showed clearly superior performance. In conclusion, in this independent validation cohort, the performance and agreement of commonly used risk stratification instruments for postoperative delirium was poor. Although some caution is needed because the risk stratification instruments were not implemented exactly as described in the original studies, we think that their usefulness in clinical practice can be questioned.
Data from: Evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Oral Health Literacy Assessment in Spanish and development of a shortened form of the instrument
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Oral Health Literacy Assessment in Spanish (OHLA-S) for the Brazilian-Portuguese language using robust analysis and with the results disclose possibilities to develop a shorter and more valid instrument. Methods: OHLA-S is an oral health literacy instrument comprising a word recognition section and a comprehension section. It consists of 24 dental words. It was translated into the Brazilian-Portuguese language (OHLA-B) and its psychometric properties were evaluated in a random sample of 250 adults aged 20–59 years. To assess the dimensionality and factor structure were tested by means of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Reliability was assessed using two indicators: Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's Omega. Results: EFA and CFA demonstrated that the OHLA-B with 24 items did not present an adequate adjustment of the model, compromising its validity. In addition, reliability values at 0.50 for Cronbach's alpha and 0.67 for McDonald's omega were below the minimum acceptable rate of 0.70. As no support was found for the original structure, we decided to proceed with the withdrawal of individual items and successive reanalysis of the model until the indicators were adjusted in a shorter instrument. A new structure with 15 items produced an instrument with two dimensions and a better goodness of fit than the original instrument. The Alpha and Omega reliability index values increased to 0.83 and 0.80, respectively, and all scores were better in the OLHA-B with 15 items than in the instrument with 24 items. Conclusion: OLHA-B with the original structure composed by 24 items did not show acceptable construct validity. The shorter version with 15 items showed more promising results for assessing oral health literacy levels in the Brazilian population.
