Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MIDEQ), MI: Water Color Study, 2006
The MI-DEQ initiated this study to test the nutrient criteria model developed in the state in which water color was one of the predictor variables of lake phosphorus. Great Lakes Environmental Center (GLEC) collected samples from 24 lakes/reservoirs; MDEQ collected samples on 39 lakes; and GLEC analyzed all data in their lab.
Michigan State University, Sonar project, 1998-2000
This database is from a short-term research study designed to assess the effect of application of low doses of the herbicide fluridone (Sonar®) on Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM), other plant species, and water quality in lakes in 7 lakes in southern Michigan. Low doses of fluridone are expected to only impact EWM and not the rest of the plant community. Three of the lakes had no herbicide treatment done on them (Big Seven, Clear and Heron), three of the lakes had treatment done on them such that EWM decreased in the lake during treatment years (Big Crooked, Camp, and Lobdell); and one lake had treatment that was unsuccessful in changing the plant community (Wolverine). Treatment was done in 1998 during the first year of water chemistry sampling. The plant community did not change drastically, and so treatment did not affect water quality (Bremigan et al. 2005). The responses of aquatic invertebrates (Cheruvelil et al 2000, Cheruvelil et al. 2002) and fish (Valley and Bremigan 2002a,b) were also assessed.
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MI): water quality sampling program, 1967-1997
This program is the water quality sampling program for the state of Michigan (formerly the Department of Natural Resources, then the Department of Environmental Quality). Most, if not all lakes are public and > 25 acres. The goal of the program is to determine inland lake trophic status. Spring samples are taken to determine total phosphorus and other parameter levels of the lake while it is well mixed. Summer samples were also performed for other parameters.
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Michigan's Lake Water Quality Assessment Program (MI-LWQA), 2001-2010
The sampling methodology and program was designed to replicate the methods used historically by MI-DEQ to sample inland lakes in the 1970-1980’s. Each year, lakes were selected randomly from 7-10 major watersheds in MI. Watersheds were monitored in a 5-yr cycle in conjunctions with current MI-DEQ water quality activities. Lakes > 25 acres were chosen that had public boat access.

Michigan Synthetic Ecosystem
Michigan synthetic population dataset consisting of tables for persons, households, schools, and workplaces. This dataset was created by the SPEW program from 2010 ACS SF 5-Year counts; 2010 US TIGER Roads; ACS PUMS 1-Year micro data; 2013 and 2011 NCES schools; and 2009 ESRI workplaces.

Alasmidonta viridis Central Michigan University survey data
<p>Data collected by Central Michigan University during surveys for <i>Alasmidonta viridis </i>in Michigan in the summer of 2022. Data was analyzed for completion of Gabrielle Sanfilippo's M.S. thesis for Central Michigan University's Department of Biology, submitted December 2023. The Excel spreadsheet contains two sheets: (1) "General" with general site survey data, including person hours surveyed, number of <i>A. viridis </i>and other mussel species found, and abiotic site measurements; and (2) "A. viridis indv" which contains data collected on <i>A. viridis </i>specimens, including length, width, height, and the etch given to each <i>A. viridis </i>specimen, and other data collected within a 1x1 meter quadrat centered around the <i>A. viridis </i>individual.</p>

All of the details about how these data were collected and processed are provided in that paper, particularly in the Supporting Information.</p> <p><strong>Brief Summary:</strong></p> <p>On May 19, 2020, the Edenville and Sanford dams near Midland, Michigan, USA failed as the result of significant rainfall over the preceding two days. We analyzed the geomorphic impacts of these failures using a pre-failure airborne lidar dataset and three UAV-based lidar surveys collected two weeks ("2020-06"), three months ("2020-08)", and eleven months ("2021-04") post-failure. The pre-failure airborne lidar dataset was merged from two datasets hosted on OpenTopography as part of the USGS 3DEP project. These are linked to in the Supporting Information document for the above manuscript. This upload contains data from the three UAV-based surveys we collected.</p> <p><strong>Structure/Contents:</strong></p> <p>The .zip file is structured first by dates, with each folder corresponding to one of our three field campaigns. <br>Within each date folder, there are two folders: one for data collected at Edenville and another for data collected at Sanford. <br>Within each location folder, there are two items. <br> 1. One is a .las file that contains the ground-classified point cloud data. For Edenville, these point clouds are merged from data collected from multiple launch locations. The point cloud file has had corrections applied to it. It corresponds to the output that results from the Supporting Information through the end of section 2.3: Lidar processing. These files can be opened and worked with using most-any software that handles point clouds; users preferring free and open source software could consider using CloudCompare [https://cloudcompare.org/].<br> 2. The second is a folder containing DEMs, which are raster images derived from the point cloud data in the corresponding location folder. Each pixel contains the elevation of that area in meters above sea level. Two copies are provided: one with the pixel size set to 50 cm by 50 cm, and the other set to 1 m by 1 m. These were created by constructing a triangular lattice between ground-classified points in the point cloud and then sampling the mesh. These maps are provided for convenience for users who prefer to work with raster data over point clouds or would otherwise prefer not to have to rasterize point cloud data themselves. These files can be opened and worked with using any GIS software; users preferring free and open source software could consider using QGIS [https://www.qgis.org/en/site/].
