Dataset of the survey on the digital transformation of business processes at universities in Germany

<p>In spring 2022, a broad survey was conducted among all 423 German universities on the status and the future of the digitalisation of administrative business processes.</p> <p>During the research survey, participants gave or rejected their consent for the publication of their contribution as open data. Respecting the roughly 30% of participants who declined, we published all remaining data here on Zenodo. The raw version of the dataset contains filtered, but pseudonymised data. The second version of the dataset is modified by the quality control process as described in section 3.3. of the corresponding Data Paper.</p> <p>The published data also includes the catalogue of questions indicating the respective category of time and competency pattern in which the question was used. This catalogue also contains the match with the PDF printout of the web-based questionnaire and the corresponding variables (V1-V1073) of the data records.</p> <p>Finally, the general introduction as well as the proposed letter to the target groups are included in the data files for reference.</p>

Concordant and opposing effects of climate and land-use change on avian assemblages in California's most transformed landscapes

<p>Climate and land-use change could exhibit concordant effects that favor or disfavor the same species, which would amplify their impacts, or species may respond to each threat in a divergent manner, causing opposing effects that moderate their impacts in isolation. We used early 20th-century surveys of birds conducted by Joseph Grinnell paired with modern resurveys and land-use change reconstructed from historic maps to examine avian change in Los Angeles and California's Central Valley (and their surrounding foothills). Occupancy and species richness declined greatly in Los Angeles from urbanization, strong warming (+1.8°C) and drying (-77.2 mm), but remained stable in the Central Valley, despite large-scale agricultural development, average warming (+0.9°C), and increased precipitation (+11.2 mm). While climate was the main driver of species distributions a century ago, the combined impacts of land-use and climate change drove temporal changes in occupancy, with similar numbers of species experiencing concordant and opposing effects.</p>

Genome report: Genome sequence of 1S1, a transformable and highly regenerable diploid potato for use as a model for gene editing and genetic engineering

<p>Generation of a genomic resource for a readily transformable diploid potato would provide a resource for high throughput functional analysis in potato. The heterozygous <em>Solanum tuberosum</em> Group Phureja clone 1S1 has a high regeneration rate, self-fertility, desirable tuber traits and is amenable to <em>Agrobacterium</em>-mediated transformation. To create a contiguous genome assembly, a homozygous doubled monoploid of 1S1 (DM1S1) was sequenced using 44 Gbp of long reads generated from Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT), yielding a 736 Mb assembly that encoded 31,145 protein-coding genes. The final assembly for DM1S1 represents a nearly complete genic space, shown by the presence of 99.6% (C:99.5%[S:97.8%, D:1.7%],F:0.1%,M:0.4%,n:1614) of the Benchmarking Universal Single Copy Orthologs. Variant analysis with Illumina reads from 1S1 was used to deduce its alternate haplotype using the variant calling tools Strelka2 (v2.9.10), GATK's Haplotypecaller (v4.1.4.1), and Freebayes (v1.3.2). These variants were used to create consensus fasta sequences with the DM1S1 assembly using bcftools (v1.9.64).</p>

Grouped into one zip file</p> <p>Methods in associated publication.&nbsp; Briefly 3 groups of 15 hamsters were infected with 100 NEJ flukes that had been gene edited with CRISPR/Cas9 plasmids targeting either Ov-grn-1, Ov-tsp-2, or a scrambled sequence as the control group.&nbsp; Images in these files are the micrographs from these three groups of hamsters.&nbsp; Numbered 1-15 representing the hamster and left/middle/right representing the liver lobe the section was taken from.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Knockout of liver fluke granulin, Ov-grn-1, impedes malignant transformation during chronic infection with Opisthorchis viverrini</p> <p>ABSTRACT: Infection with the food-borne liver fluke <em>Opisthorchis viverrini</em> is the principal risk factor for cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in the Mekong Basin countries of Thailand, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia. Using a novel model of CCA, involving infection with gene-edited liver flukes in the hamster during concurrent exposure to dietary nitrosamine, we explored the role of the fluke granulin-like growth factor <em>Ov</em>-GRN-1 in malignancy. We derived RNA-guided gene knockout flukes (<em>&Delta;Ov-grn-1)</em> using CRISPR/Cas9/gRNA materials delivered by electroporation. Genome sequencing confirmed programmed Cas9-catalyzed mutations of the targeted genes, which was accompanied by rapid depletion of transcripts and the proteins they encode. Gene-edited parasites colonized the biliary tract of hamsters and developed into adult flukes. However, less hepatobiliary tract disease manifested during chronic infection with <em>&Delta;Ov-grn-1</em> worms in comparison to hamsters infected with control gene-edited and mock-edited parasites. Specifically, immuno- and colorimetric-histochemical analysis of livers revealed markedly less periductal fibrosis surrounding the flukes and less fibrosis globally within the hepatobiliary tract during infection with <em>&Delta;Ov-grn-1</em> genotype worms, minimal biliary epithelial cell proliferation, and significantly fewer mutations of <em>TP53</em> in biliary epithelial cells. Moreover, fewer hamsters developed high-grade CCA compared to controls. The clinically relevant, pathophysiological phenotype of the hepatobiliary tract confirmed a role for this secreted growth factor in malignancy and morbidity during opisthorchiasis.</p>

Data from: Transforming medical education in Liberia through an international community of inquiry (2017 dataset)

<p>A critical component of building capacity in Liberia's physician workforce involves strengthening the country's only medical school, A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine. Beginning in 2015, senior health sector stakeholders in Liberia invited faculty and staff from U.S. academic institutions and non-governmental organizations to join a partnership focused on improving undergraduate medical education in Liberia. Over the subsequent six years, the members of this partnership came together through an iterative, mutual-learning process and created what William Torbert et al describe as a "community of inquiry," in which practitioners and researchers pair action and inquiry toward evidence-informed practice and organizational transformation. This community of inquiry developed around a few key institutional and interpersonal relationships but expanded over time. Incorporating faculty, practitioners, and students from Liberia and the U.S., the community of inquiry consistently focused on following the vision, goals, and priorities of leadership in Liberia, irrespective of funding source or institutional affiliation. The work of the community of inquiry has incorporated multiple mixed methods assessments, stakeholder discussions, strategic planning, and collaborative self-reflection, resulting in transformation of M.D. education in Liberia. We suggest that the community of inquiry approach reported here can serve as a model for others seeking to form sustainable, international global health partnerships focused on organizational transformation.</p>

Transformer Inrush Measurements in a Distribution Grid Laboratory

<p>This data set contains measurement data of distribution transformer inrush transients obtained in the Distribution Grid Laboratory at the IAEW at RWTH Aachen University. Within the framework of the investigations, a medium voltage feeder with one or multiple medium/low voltage transformers is energised. The setup is either supplied by the public medium voltage grid or by a grid-forming converter. In the latter case, grid voltage distortions can be observed during the inrush transient due to output current limitation of the converter.</p> <p>The inrush measurements were carried out within the framework of the project DiSCo (Distribution System Inrush From Grid-Forming Converters). TRANSFORM video - Citizen Jury in Lombardy

<p>Within TRANSFORM, Lombardy Region commits to render S3 more inclusive and transparent, ensuring that citizens&rsquo; voices are heard, and opinions are taken into account in setting up key regional R&amp;I policies (participatory research and innovation, agenda setting). This video describes the second stream of deliberative engagement conducted in Lombardy within the TRANSFORM project: Citizen Jury 24 representatives of Lombardy&rsquo;s population assembled for two days to learn, discuss, and deliberate about responsible smart mobility. TRANSFORM video - Deliberative engagement in Lombardy Region

<p>Within the realm of TRANSFORM, Lombardy Region commits to render S3 more inclusive and transparent, ensuring that citizens&rsquo; voices are heard, and opinions are taken into account in setting up key regional R&amp;I policies (participatory research and innovation, agenda setting). This video describes the first stream of deliberative engagement conducted in Lombardy within the TRANSFORM project: sharing their experiences and opinions on personal and territorial needs, citizens contribute to shape regional R&amp;I priorities. More than 1000 people leaving in the region are engaged thanks to a structured participatory agenda setting pilot exercise, which is held entirely online (due to the COVID-19 emergency) combining a mix of quantitative (a survey administered to a representative sample of the Lombardy population) and qualitative (a deliberative workshop) methods. TRANSFORM video - Introducing RRI into the governance of regional R&I

<p>TRANSFORM is a European&nbsp;project (under Horizon 2020) aiming at introducing citizen engagement practices into the governance of regional research and innovation (dealing in particular with Smart Specialisation Strategies &ndash; S3) in three European territories: Lombardy (Italy), Catalonia (Spain), Brussels-Capital (Belgium). Under the common framework of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), each region runs pilot actions aimed at implementing open and inclusive processes that make local research and innovation priorities more connected to societal needs while generating socially acceptable solutions through the involvement of multiple stakeholders. TRANSFORM video - First-person experiences of endometriosis in Catalonia (health pilot)

<p>Endometriosis affects 10% of girls, women (and sex-gender diversities) of reproductive age worldwide. Its diagnosis takes between 8 and 10 years from the onset of symptoms, a time during which these people suffer serious physical, psychological, social and professional consequences. TRANSFORM video - Waste pilot using citizen science in Catalonia

<p>A citizen science project to improve the selective waste collection system in Mollet del Vall&egrave;s Citizens have a key role in political decision-making and the TRANSFORM pilot project is a clear example of this. TRANSFORM Catalan cluster carried out a citizen science pilot in the city of Mollet del Vall&egrave;s to contribute to improving the selective collection of municipal waste. CLEVER (Creating leverage to enhance biodiversity outcomes of global biomass trade) investigates this question, particularly for animal feed, energy crops, tropical timber and aquacultures.<br> <br> This stakeholder database has been created in the CLEVER project to provide a comprehensive but not exhaustive list of stakeholders who may have an interest in CLEVER. The database includes information such as names and types of organisations and data about their role in the value chains concerned (timber and soy in Brazil, timber in Cameroon, fishmeal and&nbsp;oil&nbsp;globally).&nbsp;Particular&nbsp;attention has been paid to the involvement of local communities and vulnerable&nbsp;groups directly or indirectly affected by trade.&nbsp;</p>
