Vertebra Cervical incompleta. Presenta sección del disco vertebral y del arco neural, de un ejemplar de *Megatherium sp*. Pampa del Tamarugal. Comuna de Pozo Almonte. Región de Tarapacá. El Megatherium de Tarapacá, corresponde a un ejemplar de peresozo gigante (*Megatherium sp.*), descubierto en la pampa del Tamarugal en 1959, en el área de antiguos escurrimientos en el cono de deyección que se dispersa sobre la pampa existente entre las localidades de Matilla por el Este y el área de Cuminalla, hacia La Huayca. En el Museo Regional existen diverso registros asociados a *Megatherium sp., Scelidodon sp.*, y otras especies asociadas a la fauna del periodo Cuaternario (Pleistoceno/Holoceno) 2,9 millones a 10 mil años atrás (según las últimas fechaciones radiocarbónicas de *Megatherium* en Quebrada Maní, Comuna de Pozo Almonte.
