FIGURE 1. A. Aloe davyana var. davyana from Pretoria, Gauteng province, South Africa, of a form with dull brick-red, greenish to greyish white-striped flowers. B. Aloe davyana var. subolifera leaves are shorter than those of A. davyana var. davyana, and plants form large clumps. C. This clump of A. davyana var. subolifera consists of 17 rosettes, with leaves almost square following winter die-back of the distal portions. D. Flowers of A. davyana var. subolifera are generally very light pink to almost white in colour, and the inflorescences are rather laxly flowered.
