Arizona Meterological Network (azmet) location of weather stations

The Arizona Meteorological Network (AZMET) provides meteorological data and weather-based information to agricultural and horticultural interests operating in southern and central Arizona. Meteorological data is collected from a network of automated weather stations located in both rural and urban production settings. Meteorological data collected by AZMET include temperature (air and soil), humidity, solar radiation, wind (speed and direction), and precipitation. AZMET also provides a variety of computed variables, including heat units (degree-days), chill hours, and reference crop evapotranspiration (ETo). AZMET data are summarized in a variety of formats, including several ready-to-use summaries that use English units, and comma-delimited ASCII text files that can be imported into most database and spreadsheet programs. Special reports generated by AZMET include the Phoenix Area Turf Water Use Report and Weekly Cotton Advisories (generated Mondays from February through August). AZMET began operating on Jan 1 1987; we have no data prior to this date.

Daily weather summaries (temperature, precipitation and wind) for station SAN DIEGO LINDBERGH FIELD, CA US (GHCND:USW00023188), obtained from NOAA National Climatic Data Center and re-published through CCE LTER data system for community use as regionally relevant data, 1939 - Oct 2019.

Data provided here are obtained from the Global Historical Climatology Network - Daily (GHCN-Daily) database, provided by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (formerly NCDC). Data are periodically downloaded by CCE LTER Information Management and imported into the local data system for use by the local scientific community as regionally relevant data. The data contained in this dataset are from the SAN DIEGO LINDBERGH FIELD, CA US station (GHCND:USW00023188) at 32.7336°, -117.1831° beginning in July 1, 1939. The Global Historical Climatology Network - Daily (GHCN-Daily) dataset integrates daily climate observations from approximately 30 different data sources. Version 3 was released in September 2012 with the addition of data from two additional station networks. Changes to the processing system associated with the version 3 release also allowed for updates to occur 7 days a week rather than only on most weekdays. Version 3 contains station-based measurements from well over 90,000 land-based stations worldwide, about two thirds of which are for precipitation measurement only. Other meteorological elements include, but are not limited to, daily maximum and minimum temperature, temperature at the time of observation, snowfall and snow depth. Over 25,000 stations are regularly updated with observations from within roughly the last month. The dataset is also routinely reconstructed (usually every week) from its roughly 30 data sources to ensure that GHCN-Daily is generally in sync with its growing list of constituent sources. During this process, quality assurance checks are applied to the full dataset. Where possible, GHCN-Daily station data are also updated daily from a variety of data streams. Station values for each daily update also undergo a suite of quality checks.

Automated weather observation station at Palmer Station Antarctica using Coastal Environment sensors. Started recording in November 2001. Overlapped for two years with manual observations. In December 2003, the PalMOS automated report generator was brought online and the manual observations discontinued. The sole manual observation remaining is the daily snow-level and new snow level measurements.

A cross-checked global monthly weather station database for precipitation covering the period 1901 to 2010

<p>This database entry represents a comprehensive compilation of monthly weather station records for precipitation from multiple data sources for the period 1901-2010, with an emphasis on climate normal averages for the period 1961-1990. The database corresponds to the journal publication: Castellanos-Acu&ntilde;a, D. and Hamann, A. 2020. A cross-checked global monthly weather station database for precipitation covering the period 1901 to 2010. Geoscience Data Journal (https://rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/20496060, article in press, January 2020).</p> <p>We use digital elevation models and nearby stations to search for inconsistencies in reported station locations and recorded precipitation values. We also estimated missing values in weather station time series using a linear model approach based on interpolated anomaly surfaces. The resulting station records were ranked into ten classes, according to the completeness of records, the reliability of missing value estimations and other criteria. We corrected incomplete or erroneous location and elevation information for 12% of all available station records. A total of 23% of monthly records that had missing values could be estimated with high or moderate confidence. We sub-sampled our global database of more than 80,000 stations with various spatial filters, so that only the highest quality station for a given area was retained.</p> <p>Our contribution significantly enhances global data coverage compared to individual databases currently available. Even when accepting only the stations within the top two quality ranks in our combined database, and applying the coarsest spatial filter of one station per approximately 1,600 km&sup2;, the remaining station count of more than 20,000 stations exceeds the largest alternative database (without a spatial filter applied) by more than 50%.</p> <p>The database contains a &quot;Station Statistics&quot; file with various flags indicating station quality and completeness of records. Monthly precipitation data is provided as one large file, but also broken down into regional files with less than one million rows each. Climate normal estimates for the 1961-1990 period, useful as a baseline prior to significant anthropogenic warming, are provided in multiple files with global coverage, but with different spatial filters applied that select the highest quality stations based for a global grid at different resolutions.</p>

Silalirijiit Project: Kangiqtugaapik (Clyde River), Nunavut, Canada, Weather Station Network, Version 1

The Kangiqtugaapik (Clyde River), Nunavut, Canada, Weather Station Network is a collection of weather station data from the locations of Akuliaqattak, Silasiutitalik, and Ailaktalik in the Clyde River area. Data collection for the Silalirijiit project began in June 2010 and is ongoing. An online interface shows the current conditions at these locations. Weather data from the Kangiqtugaapik Airport Station, collected by Environment Canada, are also provided. The data will be archived at NSIDC in the future; at this time, the site displays current conditions. This data set is part of the Silalirijiit Project and is funded by a National Science Foundation grant (ARC-0753854) entitled IPY: Collaborative Research: Linking Inuit Knowledge and Local-Scale Environmental Modeling to Evaluate the Impacts of Changing Weather on Human Activities at Clyde River, Nunavut.

Cillaput: Our Weather, Yukon-Kuskowim Delta Weather Station Network, Version 1

Cillaput: Our Weather, Yukon-Kuskowim Delta Weather Station Network provides access to current weather conditions in the villages of Chevak and Kotlik located in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region of western Alaska. Measurements are collected hourly and include air temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall, solar radiation, and soil and surface temperatures. The weather stations were installed in late 2017 through a partnership between the Chevak Traditional Council, the US Geological Survey, and collaboration with the US Forest Service. The Cillaput data application displays the hourly conditions and graphs showing the past 24 hours of data. Users may download the data record by completing the user registration form on this page.

The GPM Ground Validation Environment Canada (EC) Weather Station XET C3VP dataset consists of surface meteorological data collected at the Environment Canada (EC) XET station at the Centre for Atmospheric Research Experiments (CARE) during the Canadian CloudSat/CALIPSO Validation Project (C3VP) field campaign. The campaign took place in southern Canada in support of multiple science missions, including the NASA GPM mission, in order to improve the modeling and remote sensing of winter precipitation. The XET C3VP dataset file includes temperature, pressure, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, solar radiation, grass temperature, soil temperature, snow depth, sunshine, and precipitation measurements from October 4, 2006 through March 31, 2007 in ASCII-csv format.
